My name is Ruth and I am a qualified Integrative Therapist, specialising in Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy.

My main focus is on tailoring a collaborative way of working that gives you space to explore your self-growth. I can help you if you are feeling anxious, depressed, angry or dealing with feelings of low self-confidence. My work is exploratory, so we would collaborate in finding the roots of your discomfort and together, we can build new ways of thinking.

Anxiety
I understand how delibilitating chronic anxiety can feel and my work is based around helping my client deal with anxiety in the moment while also looking into the root causes of their anxiety.  REBT looks into an individual's beliefs about the world or themselves and unpicking these beliefs can be very helpful in managing anxiety.

Stress
Feeling overwhelmed by the demands of daily life?  Our confidential space allows you to explore the sources of your stress, whether it's work, relationships, or personal challenges.  I'm here to help you identify unhealthy coping mechanisms and develop practical strategies to cope. I'll help you to improve communication skills, and set boundaries. We can explore techniques to manage anxiety and build resilience to navigate life's stressors and find peace of mind.

Pain
REBT directly addresses the cognitive underpinnings of chronic pain. By challenging irrational beliefs that exacerbate emotional distress, REBT empowers clients to develop more adaptive thought patterns that promote effective pain management and improve overall well-being.

Barriers to Exercise
REBT tackles the psychological roadblocks that keep people from exercising. It helps identify and challenge unhelpful beliefs like "I'm not coordinated enough" or "Exercise is too painful." By replacing these with more rational thoughts ("I can improve!") and addressing exercise anxiety, REBT empowers individuals to adopt a more positive and realistic view of exercise, ultimately increasing motivation and adherence to a routine.

Menopause
Menopause, while a natural transition marking the end of a woman's reproductive years, it can bring a wave of physical and emotional changes. Therapy can be a powerful resource during this time. In a safe and supportive space, you can explore various concerns, from managing hot flushes and sleep disturbances to navigating the emotional rollercoaster of anxiety, low mood, or even a sense of loss.

Fees

My fees are £70 per session.  Each session lasts 55 minutes.

It is important to find the right counsellor for you, for this reason I offer a free 30 minute initial telephone or Zoom session so that we can see if we are the right fit for each other.
