Counselling and Therapy North London

About me

You might be here because life feels heavy, anxious, or confusing — caught in patterns or self-doubt you’d like to move beyond. You may not know what to do next, only that something needs to change. We won’t start with answers — we’ll find the right questions.

Therapy begins with the simple act of being met. I offer a warm, collaborative space where we can explore what’s happening in your life — meeting you as a whole person, not a problem to fix. It’s a place to arrive as you are and find what you need.

Many of my clients are thoughtful, creative and self-aware, often supporting others, but can find it hard to turn understanding into movement for them. Together we’ll explore what’s holding you back, and what might help you move toward steadiness, connection and self-trust.

How I work

However we begin, our work unfolds at your pace — grounded in trust, curiosity, and care. My approach
is integrative and relational — drawing together ideas from Person-Centred, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt, existential, and mindfulness-based traditions, combining evidence-based insight with a relational focus.

These approaches offer different ways of understanding experience — from developing self-acceptance and emotional regulation, to exploring values, identity, and direction. They aren’t techniques to apply but ways of listening. The focus is always relationship: how you meet yourself, supported by how we meet each other in the room.

The process is collaborative and adaptive — we follow what feels alive, letting awareness and connection guide the work.

What we might explore

  • Anxiety, overthinking, low self-esteem, self-criticism or ADHD — learning steadier self-support.
  • Confidence, boundaries, and communication — relating with more ease and honesty.
  • Trauma, grief, or loss — meeting what’s painful with care and perspective.
  • Depression, stress, and burnout — rebuilding energy, purpose, and meaning.
  • Life transitions, identity, and direction — reconnecting with what feels real and important.

Each session unfolds naturally. The aim is awareness, not perfection — learning to meet yourself with care, not criticism.

How it feels to work together

  • Safe enough to be seen. We begin by building steadiness and trust — helping your system know it doesn’t have to hold everything alone.
  • Awareness and acceptance. You’ll learn to see what’s happening inside you without judgment, and to let it move at its own pace.
  • Warmth with all. Compassion that steadies as it softens — firm, fair, and kind.
  • Relationship as method. Sessions aren't something that happens to you, but between us. A meeting where difference becomes dialogue and complexity can belong.
  • Empowerment through participation. The aim is not control but trust — learning to let action grow naturally from what feels real and connected.
  • Integration and meaning. Over time, therapy gathers what was divided; wholeness becomes the ability to stay in conversation with all that we are

Who I work with

Using approaches such as DBT, ACT, Gestalt Therapy, and IFS, I offer tools to foster resilience, self-compassion, and emotional regulation. I can’t thank Martin enough

I started therapy, almost 2 months ago and I can definitely say it is much needed, Martin takes his time to listen and makes me understand and deal with my feelings in a different perspective, in those space of 2 months I learnt a lot about my feelings and mental health, and I can’t thank Martin enough, I will 100 percent recommend personal talking therapy to anybody.

Counselling with empathy and warmth

Working with Martin in Supervision, I was impressed by Martin's ability to attune with his clients, working side by side with them with empathy and warmth, and a natural curiosity that makes him easy to talk to. Thoroughly recommend.

Life-changing

The work Martin and I did together was life-changing. Everyone around me noticed the difference between where I started and where I am now. I think what was so helpful was his adaptive approach — many weeks were free form, which was exactly what I needed, especially because it was an hour where I became truly disconnected from my environment and he helped me connect to myself. That said, he knew when a week needed structuring, e.g. a week looking backwards. Mostly, he provided a very safe, empathetic space and asked thoughtful questions and provided validation.

I feel his personal approach is wonderful — I think he creates a safe environment very quickly, he's very thoughtful with his questions and very thorough about recalling things I’ve said. In that sense, he made me feel very listened to and that goes a long way. I was worried I’d get counselling from someone who was quite robotic and I appreciated that he brings his own personality and subjectivity to our sessions. It made the whole process very human and gratifying.

Kind, thoughtful and patient

I have been working with Martin for the past five weeks and have really enjoyed my therapy sessions so far. Martin is really kind, thoughtful and patient, and allowed enough time to build trust before jumping in to anything heavy. I really enjoy how open the sessions are - I don't feel pressured at all to discuss anything in particular, and sometimes we have just chatted about events that week that have bothered me. I've found this method has allowed me to process what is happening in my life currently as well as in the past, which means I feel more aware week-to-week in my daily life, and can discuss what crops up openly without feeling a need to follow a strict agenda for the coming session. Martin is a genuinely interested and caring person, and has made me feel confident to share my feelings and experiences without judgement. He has created a welcoming session that I look forward to each week, and I would really recommend him!
