Hi, I'm Ann - a qualified and experienced counsellor.  If you’re having a tough time just now, you don't need to struggle alone: counselling can help. Together we can make sense of what you’re feeling and find a positive way forward.

My approach is Psychodynamic, which means I have a particular interest in understanding how past events and relationships have shaped you into the person you are today. Exploring this and identifying what changes you want to make can lead to better relationships, greater happiness and the peace which comes from self-acceptance.

I have experience of delivering both long-term and short term therapy to a wide range of clients, including NHS IAPT clients struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and loss.

First contact is a free, brief telephone to discuss why you're considering counselling and to arrange a time and day for an assessment. The assessment is an opportunity to explore in more depth what's troubling you and for you to ask me any questions.  It's also an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little.

If we both feel that we can work well together, the next step is to agree length of counselling and set the time and day of our regular, 50 minute sessions.

Specialisations

I work Psychodynamically - which involves working with you to explore how past experiences and learned patterns of behaviour are impacting on your current life, and may be holding you back or affecting how you relate to others.  Our relationship will be an important part of the therapy: I offer a non-judgmental and accepting experience where (when you are ready) you can talk about whatever you think and feel without fear of reprisal.

I offer both long and short term therapy: from 6 weeks to 6+ years.  This is something we can discuss and plan at the start of therapy but review together as we progress.

Most common issues I support people with:

Issues I routinely work with include: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, loss and relationship problems.

Fees

I charge £40 for remote counselling and £50 for face-to-face.

Sessions are weekly and for 50 minutes.

Discounted sessions are possible for those on low, or no income. Please ask if this is of interest.
