I’m Maxine, a psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience helping people overcome anxiety, fear, trauma, and the effects of toxic relationships. 

 

I specialise in supporting adult survivors of childhood abuse, as well as those recovering from narcissistic or toxic relationships. I also work with clients struggling with performance anxiety, grief, burnout, and long-standing patterns of fear or self-sabotage.

Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck, often after “trying everything” to feel better, yet still battling anxiety, self-doubt, or the emotional weight of their past. In our sessions, you’ll find a safe, compassionate space where you can finally breathe, feel heard, and begin to untangle what’s been holding you back.

My Approach

I combine hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), and emotional resilience tools to create a personalised plan that addresses both the symptoms you’re struggling with now and the deeper causes beneath them. My work is about helping you achieve lasting change, so you feel calmer, more confident, and able to move forward.

Online therapy

Working together on online (Zoom) means you can access therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Many clients find being in a familiar environment helps them feel more at ease and able to open up.

Online sessions also remove the stress of travel, making it easier to fit therapy into busy lives while still receiving the same level of care, connection, and progress as face-to-face work. With secure video calls, we can create a safe, focused space for meaningful change, wherever you are in the world.

Inbetween sessions I provide excercises to help maintain the work we've done in session and I encourage updates via email to help keep you on track.

Qualifications and registrations

I am dedicated to helping you overcome the challenges that are keeping you stuck, anxious, or held back by past experiences. With over 25 years of experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise as a certified hypnotherapist, psychotherapist, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) practitioner, and EFT trainer. Over the past two decades, I’ve helped thousands of people worldwide overcome anxiety, fear, trauma, and the lasting effects of toxic relationships.

As an experienced therapist and coach, I combine evidence-based approaches with deep therapeutic work, tailoring every session to meet your individual needs. My extensive training in psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and EFT allows me to address both the immediate symptoms you’re facing and the deeper roots of distress, ensuring lasting change rather than short-term fixes.

I also train other practitioners in EFT, which keeps me at the forefront of new developments in the field and continually enhances my practice. My work is trauma-informed, compassionate, and grounded in helping you feel safe, understood, and empowered to create a life beyond anxiety and past pain.

Many of my clients come to me feeling anxious, stuck, or emotionally exhausted, often after trying everything else to feel better. They may be dealing with long-term stress, past trauma, or the impact of toxic relationships, and nothing seems to shift the deep emotional patterns underneath.

I specialise in working with anxiety, fear, trauma, and the lasting effects of emotionally harmful relationships, particularly for adult survivors of childhood abuse. Using a blend of psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), and emotional resilience tools, I help clients address both the symptoms and the root causes of their distress.

Clients often begin to feel calmer, clearer, and more in control within 6–12 sessions. Longer-term work is available for deeper healing and recovery, and many clients choose to work on creating a positive future, having let go of their problems.

Anxiety and Worry: Constant worry or tension can make it hard to relax, sleep, or focus. It often feels like your mind won’t switch off, leaving you on edge and unable to enjoy life fully.

Social Anxiety: Fear of judgment or embarrassment can make social situations overwhelming. It may lead to avoiding gatherings, work events, or even everyday interactions, leaving you isolated or frustrated with yourself.

Performance Anxiety: Fear of failure or being “not good enough” can affect work, public speaking, or creative pursuits. It often leads to procrastination, panic, or self-sabotage, holding you back from reaching your potential.

Grief and Loss: Losing someone or something meaningful can feel all-consuming, leaving you numb, empty, or unable to move forward. Grief can also resurface long after the loss, affecting daily life and relationships.

Overthinking, Overwhelm and Self-Doubt: Constantly questioning yourself or replaying situations in your head can be exhausting. It often leads to indecision, stress, and a sense of being stuck, unable to trust your own choices.
