Kate | Counsellor

Counselling Exeter

Hi, and a warm welcome to my page. I'm Kate, and I support people experiencing bereavement (including miscarriage, pet bereavement and bereavement by suicide), trauma, self-esteem issues, and a variety of losses and life transitions. These could be from loss of identity through a chronic health condition, adult-diagnosed ADHD, divorce, infertility/IVF, miscarriages, or living loss, such as empty nest syndrome, estrangement, or retirement. I am trauma-informed and work with PTSD, anxiety, depression and OCD. My strengths lie in helping you rebuild yourself and your life.

I also offer "Rewind Therapy" as one-off therapy or incorporated within longer-term therapy, which helps remove the emotional attachment to traumatic memories. Rewind is suitable for PTSD, trauma, OCD, and phobias.

Is life an uphill battle, but not sure why? Are you anxious, depressed and worried about the future? I understand how tough it is to take that step and ask for help. I can help you identify and understand what’s going on for you. The anxiety eases, the brain fog lifts, you feel calmer and know yourself better.

Counselling is not only for times of crisis. I can help you learn more about yourself, improve relationships and build a happier future. After 25 years working in education, my wealth of experience ensures I am well placed to help struggling Teachers, teens and young people. I hold an advanced DBS.

My approach is empathic, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, client-centred, and tailored to meet the individual needs of each person. Whether you're seeking help for a specific challenge or general emotional support, I am here to guide and support your emotional well-being. My role is to help you make sense of what you are going through and to support you in creating the changes you want in your life.

I believe grief is in two parts; the loss, and the rebuilding of your life. Using my own blend of warmth, empathy and non-judgmental approach, I walk alongside you as we face your loss together, and rebuild your life.

Clients often describe their sessions with me as life-changing. They feel seen and heard, more understood, and lighter. They find themselves able to face their experiences with a deeper understanding of who they are and what they need.

Are you ready to take that next step with me? Contact me today and let's book you in - send me a message via the send a message - button.

If you choose to see me in person, I am based in beautiful, purpose-built rooms with free hot/cold drinks and snacks whilst you wait to help settle you in. There is free parking, wheelchair accessible parking, a ramp available for the small stairs, and the room is wheelchair accessible (please state at time of booking). Your comfort and ease of access to counselling are imperative as we go on this journey together.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Online therapy

I offer online sessions with a relatively flexible weekly schedule, so that shift workers and/or people whose health varies from week to week can have some autonomy about when their weekly sessions are. The online flexibility route can also be useful for Teachers who may have meetings/clubs after school.
