Dionne | Women & Children's Anxiety / Grief Counsellor
Counselling Malvern
Hello and Welcome,
I’m Dionne, a warm, down-to-earth therapist based in Malvern. I support women (and some children) navigating anxiety, grief, and life transitions, especially when things feel overwhelming, disconnected, or “stuck in your head.”
Many of my clients have never had therapy before. They come because something doesn’t feel right: poor sleep, constant tension, emotional outbursts, or a deep sense of being lost. Others arrive after a sudden loss or life change, seeking calm, clarity, and connection.
I offer therapy from a peaceful, private garden room at my home – a warm, non-clinical space where the kettle is always on and dogs snooze nearby. Clients often describe it as feeling “safe and calm the moment I walk in.”
My Approach: Body – Mind – Heart
I work integratively, blending evidence-based methods to support your whole self — not just your symptoms:
-
BODY – Mindfulness, breathwork, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to calm the nervous system and ease physical anxiety.
-
MIND – CBT and coaching to help reframe unhelpful thoughts, build clarity, and shift stuck patterns.
-
HEART – Emotion-focused and psychodynamic therapy to explore deeper feelings, grief, attachment, and self-worth with care.
Each of these approaches is clinically supported but delivered with warmth, creativity, and compassion. You won’t find a passive or “nodding” counsellor here — I'm a real human valuing the connection and offering listening but also practical, helfpul sessions that will help you achieve calm and change.
Why Women Choose to Work With Me
Most of my clients are women facing major transitions: menopause, grief, burnout, breakups, identity shifts, or long-term anxiety. They want real support, not a clinical, impersonal and forumlated experience.
You might be:
-
Constantly anxious, even when things seem “fine” and there is no reason to feel anxious
-
Grieving someone or something important
-
Feeling stuck, disconnected, or alone
-
Unsure who you are now — or where life is headed
-
Frustrated by previous therapy that didn’t go deep enough
Together, we work at your pace. We can talk, pause, practice strategies that I can teach, cry, draw or use creative methosds or breathe to regulate — whatever supports you most that day. My aim is to help you feel calmer, clearer, and more like yourself again.

My Style
Clients often say they feel quickly at ease with me — like they can breathe and feel safe and settled again. I bring warmth, clarity, and lived experience. I also limit my client hours so I can show up for every session fully grounded and present.
We can talk, pause, laugh, cry, draw, breathe — whatever helps you feel most supported that day. I work with the whole person, not just their symptoms.

Online therapy
In addition to in-person sessions in Malvern, I offer online therapy for women across the UK.
You can choose video sessions from the comfort of your home. Many women find online therapy surprisingly intimate and flexible, especially when juggling care or work commitments. I can use Facetime, Google Meet, Whats App, Zoom or Team.

Specialisations and Expertises
I specialise in supporting women who are navigating anxiety, grief, and life transitions — particularly when those experiences are sudden, prolonged, or poorly understood by others around them and clients feel isolated or judged.
I have an interest in midlife mental health, with particular attention to how hormonal shifts, loss, overwhelm and identity changes affect the body, mind and heart.
Other common issues I work with include:
-
Generalised anxiety and chronic worry including panic attacks and stress-related physical symptoms
-
Grief, bereavement and anticipatory loss
-
Menopause-related emotional shifts and low resilience
-
Caregiver fatigue and “sandwich generation” burnout
-
Emotional fallout from narcissistic family dynamics or difficult childhoods
-
Post-divorce identity rebuilding
-
Low self-worth, shame and emotional disconnection
-
Emotional sensitivity, overthinking, and feeling “too much”
Many of my clients arrive feeling exhausted, dysregulated and unsure where to begin — especially if they’ve felt dismissed or told to "just manage." My integrated approach gently combines practical tools (like CBT and mindfulness), body-based settling (like EFT and breathwork), and deeper emotional processing (through psychodynamic or emotion-focused work) so that you feel supported on all levels. The approach is therefore surprisingly effective in less sessions than traditional therapy.
How Many Sessions Are Needed?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but most clients feel real relief and clarity after 3-9 sessions, especially if the focus is anxiety or adjustment. For more complex grief, trauma or relational work, a longer therapeutic relationship may be more helpful.
You’re not expected to commit to a long process without knowing if it feels right — I offer a free 15-minute consultation to help us both assess fit.
Whether you need short-term support to steady yourself or longer-term therapy to go deeper, I will always work at your pace, with transparency and compassion.
