Introduction
About Me
Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, and my aim is to make that as comfortable as possible. I work with adults, children, and teenagers who are facing challenges such as anxiety, addiction, trauma, depression, relationship difficulties, transitions and the everyday pressures that can build up over time.
My Background
For more than twenty years I’ve supported individuals and families through the ups and downs of life. My background has been working with families and individuals from birth onwards so as a counsellor I have deep understanding of how complex life can be and how important it is to have someone who is professional and outside of your everyday life who can listen, understand, while adapting to your needs in a non-judgemental way. No two people are the same, and through our work together with an empathic approach I shape the sessions to suit your needs.
What my Counselling Can Offer
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply unsure of your next step, counselling can bring clarity and support. My role is to walk alongside you, providing support in a non-judgmental way as you progress on your journey, encouraging you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself. I believe in equipping you with practical tools and useful knowledge that help you build your confidence and resilience.
How I Work
My aim is to understand what is going on for you so you can “get on with your life”. I am an Integrative Counsellor which means I have skills I can use that are best for you at that time. My training includes Person‑Centred Counselling, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt Mindfulness with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy alongside Life Coaching as part of Motivational Interviewing.
You will find that I am non‑judgemental and offer a space where you can explore what’s going on at your own pace. Listening to you with reflection I use practical tools to help you make sense of your experiences and feel more able to manage the challenges you are facing.
My approach is to help you understand the negative patterns that are repeating causing you emotional distress and hindering your growth. By talking about these issues and how they affect you emotionally and physically you can start to gain clarity and understand what changes you would like to make.
Mindfulness is never a requirement in counselling with me but is something we might draw on when it feels useful. Mindfulness can help you recognise patterns as they emerge to create space between old habits and new outlooks as you learn to detect familiar patterns that you want to change. Together mindfulness and counselling can provide insight and tools for personal growth.
This approach sits at the heart of my work: it helps you understand your problems and how they have evolved, enabling you to examine them more deeply, and mindfulness helps you relate to yourself with compassion rather than criticism.
- insight into what’s happening and why
- tools to help you respond in new ways
- support to move from old patterns into new possibilities
- support and motivation to continue growth
This combination helps many people feel more grounded, more aware, and more able to choose the direction they want to take.

Specialisations and Expertises
I feel that because I have such experience of working with individuals and families, I am able to specialise in supporting adults, children, and teenagers who are dealing with anxiety, low mood, trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties and the everyday stresses that can build up over time.
I can focus on helping people understand the patterns behind their struggles, particularly during life transitions around relationships, illness and work. Working together is a strength and I can develop practical ways to move forward.
Some clients come for a few sessions to work through a specific issue, while others prefer longer‑term support to explore things more deeply. There’s no fixed number, and we decide together what feels right for you. Should you wish to try something out and come back at a later date for further sessions that is how we learn.
One client who I worked with was able to express my expertise in the following way.
''I felt I was at my lowest point when I came to see Glyn. He helped me realise how other factors in my life both past and present make me deal with things the way I do. He taught me self compassion, how it’s ok not to be ok. How to work through my grief and that its ok to grieve, that its a personal thing and everyone is different.
Glyn is a caring man, he helps you think through things and unpick what’s causing you the anxiety or sorrow or depression.
Would like to say a big thank you, you’ve helped me so much.
Thank you again N''
