Vanessa | Counsellor & Psychotherapist, MBACP

Introduction

Hi, I’m Vanessa. I offer a nurturing space where you can be truly heard.

Helping You Heal, Reconnect, and Find Your Inner Strength

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, confusing, or simply too much. You might be living with anxiety, depression, low mood, or stuck in patterns that leave you feeling frustrated or disconnected from loved ones, your daily life, or even from yourself. You may wonder if things will ever feel manageable again.

I work with a wide range of experiences, and I have particular knowledge and interest in the following areas: Anxiety, Trauma, Neurodiversity, Parenting, Relationships, and Dating patterns, but I’m here to support you with whatever you might be facing.

A Gentle, Collaborative Approach

Therapy with me offers you a space to slow down, make sense of your experiences, and reconnect with who you are. I provide a warm, supportive environment where you can feel truly heard and understood. My therapy approach is integrative, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment-based, and CBT techniques.

This allows us to gently explore your inner world while also finding practical ways to feel more grounded, confident, and connected in your life. If this feels like the right place for you, I would be glad to hear from you - please reach out whenever you feel ready.

What Clients Say:

"Vanessa made me feel comfortable and supported from the moment I started therapy. With Vanessa's help we were able to look at my past and I shared things that I had never said out loud before. Together we made sense of why I felt the way I did and why I struggled with certain situations. Therapy has been life changing for me and I will be forever grateful for our time together, Thank you Vanessa."

"I will miss our weekly morning sessions, I feel so much better for them. My Husband and my family have noticed a huge positive change, thank you for everything you have done for me! I now have a spring in my step again and I will be recommending you to anyone seeking counselling."

Online therapy

  • Sessions take place online via Microsoft Teams, enabling video-based, face-to-face communication without needing to travel.

  • You choose a place that feels safe and comfortable for you (at home, a private room, a quiet space) so you can relax and focus without the stress of commuting.

  • Each session is typically 50 minutes long.

  • My approach is integrative, combining person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment theory and CBT , this means we may focus on what’s going on now, past experiences, or patterns and how underlying issues may be influencing you now.

Specialisations and Expertises

Trauma:

You may be carrying the weight of past trauma, whether from a single event like a loss or accident, or more ongoing experiences such as abuse, neglect, or feeling emotionally unseen. Sometimes trauma comes not only from what happened to us, but also from what we needed and didn’t receive.

Trauma can shape the way we see ourselves and relate to others. You might feel anxious, depressed, shut down, or afraid of closeness - while still longing for connection. I offer a safe, compassionate space to explore these patterns and begin the process of healing at your own pace.

Neurodiversity:

If you’re neurodivergent, living with ADHD, autism, or other neurodiverse experiences, you may find the world overwhelming, exhausting, or difficult to navigate. Whether you're newly exploring the possibility of being neurodivergent or were diagnosed later in life, you might feel a mix of emotions: confusion, frustration, grief, relief, even hope.

I hold a gentle and affirming space where you can process your experiences at your own pace, find meaningful ways to thrive as your authentic self, and feel supported as you grow. Together, we’ll find nurturing ways to help you stay grounded, care for your well-being, and prevent burnout.

Parenting:

Parenting brings unique emotional challenges at every stage. New parents can feel a loss of identity, unsure of who they are beyond caring for others. Parents of older children may struggle to stay connected as their family dynamics change. With a background in psychology and extensive knowledge in child development, I bring a deep understanding of the emotional and developmental shifts that shape parenting.

Relationships:

I also support clients navigating relationship dynamics, whether with a partner, your own parents, or friendships, where you may feel unheard, unsupported, or unsure how to repair and rebuild bonds. Together, we can make sense of these experiences and move toward greater clarity, confidence, and connection.

Dating:

Many people come to therapy noticing recurring patterns in dating or relationships that feel hard to break. You may find yourself drawn to similar types of partners, struggling to set boundaries, or repeating cycles that don’t feel healthy or fulfilling.

Together, we can explore these patterns, understand where they come from, and work toward the kinds of relationships that feel more balanced, respectful, and supportive of your well-being.

Most common issues I support people with:

Trauma
Neurodiversity
Parenting Challenges
Relationship Dynamics
Dating Patterns
