Sam | Counsellor and Trauma Therapist

Introduction

I’m offering a small number of reduced-rate sessions for Advanced Somatic EMDR at £55 per session. These spaces are limited and offered at a reduced rate for a short time.

Maybe your chest feels tight or your stomach is always unsettled.

Maybe your body stays on edge, even when part of you knows you’re safe.

Maybe your mind races, overthinking, replaying, worrying, while your body stays tense underneath it all or reacts, suddenly, intensely, and sometimes without warning.

If this feels familiar, you are not alone. Your body has been trying to protect you in the best way it knows how.

Therapy with me is a space where we gently begin to listen to those signals, rather than push them away. Together, we can start to notice what’s happening in your body, at a pace that feels right for you. You might begin to feel moments of settling where there was tension, a little more space where things once felt overwhelming, or a growing sense that you’re not as stuck as you thought.

I work with both young people and adults, and I shape the therapy around you. There is no one right way to do this. Some sessions might involve talking things through, while others might focus more on slowing down, noticing, and finding ways for your body to feel safer and more supported. Others might use varying techniques from the different therapy approaches that I am trained in that best meet your needs.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and led by you. We go at your pace, with care and flexibility, always paying attention to what feels manageable. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready for, and no expectation to have the right words.

Over time, many people find that things begin to shift, not just in how they think, but in how they feel.
A little more grounded.
A little less on edge.
A little more able to be present in their own life.

If this way of working sounds like it might suit you, you’re very welcome to get in touch. We can start with a gentle free 15-minute conversation and see if it feels like a good fit.

Online therapy

I offer online therapy sessions. Although we are working remotely, the therapy remains relational and supportive. We will use conversation alongside gentle awareness of how experiences show up in the body, such as sensations, breath, or tension, always at a pace that feels right for you. Many people find online work feels safe and accessible, as it allows them to be in a familiar environment while still feeling fully supported. an initial call to discuss your needs, we will agree on a regular time and day for your sessions.

Sessions are usually held online via Google Meet. I will send you a secure link before each session, allowing you to join from a private, comfortable space that feels right for you. Your sessions will always take place at the same agreed time and day, creating a consistent and reliable space just for you.

Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly, depending on what works best for you.

Where needed, I am also able to offer telephone sessions as an alternative.

Specialisations and Expertises

My specialist combined approach is trauma-informed, relational, and body-aware, drawing on both talking therapy and gentle somatic awareness within a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship. I support clients to explore how their experiences are held not only in thoughts, but also in the body, such as through tension, anxiety, shutdown, or heightened alertness.

Working at your pace, we pay attention to what feels safe and manageable, helping you gradually feel more grounded, present, and in control. We will only move into deeper therapeutic work when and if you feel ready and supported enough to do so, and you remain in control of the pace throughout. This approach can be helpful for anxiety, trauma, phobias, and grief, supporting both emotional understanding and a deeper sense of safety within the body.

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and tailor our work to your individual needs. In our first session, we will gently explore what has brought you to therapy and think together about how we can work in a way that feels most helpful and comfortable for you.

The number of sessions is flexible and guided by your needs. There is no fixed limit, and this can be reviewed and adapted as our work develops.
