Lorena | Psychologist & Mindfulness teacher
Introduction
Hi, my name is Lorena and I am a psychologist and a mindfulness teacher.
Many of my clients are adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in low self-esteem, or emotionally drained by relationship difficulties. Some are going through big life transitions or struggling to set healthy boundaries. They want to feel more balanced, confident, and able to cope. Often, they’re looking for a calm, supportive space where they can make sense of their thoughts and feelings, in a way that feels safe, respectful and non-judgmental.
My integrative approach draws on CBT and mindfulness, while recognising the importance of each person's individual context, experiences, and relationships. I help clients navigate anxiety, build self-esteem, strengthen emotional regulation, and improve their relationships.
I know how hard it can be to take that first step. Whether you're struggling to cope, feeling lost, or just want to understand yourself better, therapy can help. You're not alone. If my approach feels right for you, I’d be glad to support you on this journey. Let’s explore it together, at your pace and in your language.
Online therapy
My online sessions are held via Google Meet, offering a convenient and flexible option for those with busy schedules. You can attend from the comfort of your home or any location that feels private and suitable for you.
Sessions last 60 minutes. If you live in Edinburgh, you also have the option to combine online sessions with walk-and-talk therapy sessions in nature.
I offer a free 30-minute online consultation, giving us the opportunity to discuss your needs, answer any questions, and explore whether we are a good fit to work together.

Specialisations and Expertises
Throughout my years in practice, I have supported individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, relationship difficulties, body image concerns, eating disorders, trauma, low self-esteem, confidence issues, neurodiversity, infertility, maternity and parenthood-related challenges, as well as the emotional impact of major life transitions.
I have worked extensively with parents, helping them develop a parenting approach that aligns with their values, establish healthy boundaries, and better understand child development and the growing brain.
In addition, I support couples in strengthening their relationships through improved communication, greater mutual understanding, and the development of healthy boundaries.
Having lived abroad myself for many years, I also have a particular interest in supporting expatriates and international individuals navigating the unique challenges of living away from their home country. These may include cultural adaptation, identity shifts, homesickness, loneliness, building a support network, raising children in a multicultural environment, and balancing connections between different cultures and places.
Mindfulness is an important part of my work, and I often integrate mindfulness principles and practices into therapy sessions. I also regularly offer mindfulness courses for those who wish to deepen their practice and cultivate greater awareness, resilience, and wellbeing in their daily lives.
Sessions are available in English, Spanish, and Italian, allowing clients to express themselves in the language in which they feel most comfortable.
Most common issues I support people with:
Body Image & Eating Disorders
Struggles with body image and eating can affect self-esteem, relationships, and overall wellbeing. Together, we explore the thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be contributing to these difficulties, helping you develop a healthier relationship with food, your body, and yourself.
Anxiety
Anxiety can show up in many ways, including excessive worry, overthinking, panic, perfectionism, difficulty relaxing, or feeling constantly overwhelmed. I help clients understand their anxiety, develop practical coping strategies, and build greater confidence in managing life's challenges.
Relationship Issues
Whether you are experiencing difficulties with a partner, family member, friend, or colleague, relationship challenges can have a significant impact on emotional wellbeing. Therapy can help you improve communication, establish healthy boundaries, understand relationship patterns, and create more fulfilling connections.
Infertility
The journey through infertility can be emotionally demanding and often brings feelings of grief, uncertainty, frustration, and isolation. I provide a compassionate space to process these experiences, navigate difficult decisions, strengthen coping resources, and find support during what can be a deeply challenging time.
Neurodivergence
Being neurodivergent can bring unique strengths as well as challenges, particularly when living in environments that may not always accommodate different ways of thinking, learning, and experiencing the world. I support neurodivergent adults and parents in developing self-understanding, self-acceptance, practical strategies, and confidence in embracing their individual needs and strengths.
