Lindsay | Psychotherapist/Counsellor
Counselling and Psychotherapy Kingsteignton
My name is Lindsay and after over twenty years in the teaching profession, I decided to make the move into counselling and mental health.
I am an integrative counsellor, meaning that I can offer a tailored approach based on the needs of the individual. I combine different therapeutic modalities including the Person-Centred approach, Gestalt therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in order to give the client the freedom to explore their thoughts and feelings in whichever way they desire.
Whether you want to manage anxiety, control your negative thoughts, process trauma or simply want somebody to listen, I can offer a safe, comfortable and confidential space for you to air whatever is eating away at your ability to live your life the way you want to.
If you would like to know more or book an appointment, please send me a message via the send a message - button.
Online therapy
I currently work online using Google Meet, which has lots of useful functions such as screen sharing, whiteboards and much more, allowing my clients to get the most out of online therapy.
I find that working online enables my clients to feel comfortable in their own environment, thus removing some of the obstacles involved with in-person therapy.
In this busy world it can be difficult to fit self-care in to one's schedule, so having the option to stay in the office/home or even in a quiet space outdoors makes therapy accessible to all.

Specialisations and Expertises
I work in a client-led way having trained as an integrative counsellor (which combines person-centred, gestalt and cognitive behaviour therapy). This means that I can adapt sessions for you, depending on what your presenting issues are and what you want to achieve through therapy. We will always work together to ensure that your needs are being met.I am flexible when it comes to the number and frequency of sessions. In a perfect world, we would see each other every week, however busy lifestyles and the cost of living mean that clients often have session every other week, with some having a session each month. I often have clients who return to me a year or so later if something comes up again that they need support with - they do not need to tell someone new their story.
I have always had a variety of clients from all over the world who bring me all types of issues.
Most common issues I support people with:
1. Anxiety & Stress Management
Anxiety can feel overwhelming and exhausting, often interfering with everyday life and relationships. I will work collaboratively with you to explore the root causes of your anxiety, whether it's situational, long-standing, or related to past experiences. I integrate techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and grounding exercises to help you manage symptoms and develop healthier thought patterns. Together, we build practical coping strategies to restore a sense of calm and control.
Depression can leave people feeling disconnected, unmotivated, and hopeless. I provide a warm, non-judgmental space where you can safely talk about what you’re going through. My approach focuses on helping you to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, reconnect with meaning and purpose, and gradually re-engage with life. I may draw from person-centred therapy and behavioural activation techniques to help you move forward at your own pace. I can also work with you to set goals, both short-term and long-term, in order to help you to move forward.
Healthy relationships are key to our emotional wellbeing. I support people who are navigating challenges in communication, trust, attachment, or conflict. My approach emphasizes self-awareness, empathy-building, and learning new relational skills. Whether you are working through a breakup, struggling with family dynamics, or seeking deeper connection, I help you explore patterns and create healthier ways of relating.
Living with ADHD can impact focus, organisation, self-esteem, and daily functioning. I can help you to better understand how ADHD affects your thoughts, behaviours, and emotions, while offering practical tools for managing time, tasks, and energy. My approach is supportive and strengths-based, combining coaching strategies with therapeutic insight to help you to improve executive functioning, reduce overwhelm, and build routines that actually work for you. We can set goals together; clients often like a degree of accountability so having a target for the next session can be hugely motivational.
Struggles with self-worth, identity, or confidence can be rooted in early life experiences, cultural pressures, or difficult relationships. I can help you explore your sense of self, challenge inner critics, and rediscover your strengths. My approach is affirming and empowering, focused on building self-awareness, self-acceptance, and a more compassionate internal voice—especially during times of personal change or growth.
