Rachel | Counsellor

Introduction

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to visit my profile.

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, but finding the right support can make a real difference. I am a qualified therapist offering talking therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to adults, children, and young people. I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.

I work with clients experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, trauma, relationship challenges, emotional difficulties, and times of change or uncertainty. I understand that everyone’s experiences are unique, and I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs and circumstances.

Using a combination of talking therapy, CBT techniques, and a person-centred approach, I can support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself, building coping strategies, strengthening resilience, and working towards positive change.

I am qualified and experienced in working therapeutically with children and young people, offering support with emotional wellbeing, worries, confidence, relationships, and challenges they may be facing. I aim to create a warm and supportive environment where young people feel heard, understood, and able to express themselves.

Whether you are looking for support with a specific issue or simply feel that something needs to change, therapy can provide a space to reflect, heal, and move forward.

Online therapy

I offer online therapy sessions using Microsoft Teams, providing a secure and convenient way to access support from the comfort of your own home or another private space where you feel comfortable.

Online therapy works in the same way as face-to-face sessions, giving you the opportunity to talk through your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a confidential and supportive environment. Sessions are held at an agreed time, and we will connect via a secure Microsoft Teams video call.

Before your first session, I will provide you with the details needed to join the appointment and ensure you feel comfortable with using the platform. Online therapy can be particularly helpful for those with busy schedules, mobility challenges, or anyone who prefers the flexibility of accessing support remotely.

Qualifications and registrations

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework and professional standards.

My qualifications and professional training include:

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Counselling
  • Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Diploma in Therapeutic Work with Children and Young People (CYP)
  • Ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance my therapeutic skills and knowledge

I am committed to providing ethical, safe, and effective therapy, and I regularly continue my professional development to ensure my practice reflects current therapeutic approaches and best practice standards.

Specialisations and Expertises

I specialise in providing talking therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to adults, children, and young people, offering a safe, confidential, and supportive space to explore emotional difficulties and life challenges.

My areas of expertise include anxiety and stress management, depression and low mood, bereavement and loss, trauma and difficult life experiences, low self-esteem and confidence, emotional regulation, relationship difficulties, and coping with life changes and transitions. I also have a particular interest and qualification in supporting children and young people with their emotional wellbeing, helping them navigate worries, anxiety, confidence issues, relationships, and challenges they may be experiencing.

I use a person-centred approach, tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs and combining talking therapy with CBT techniques where appropriate. Therapy can help you develop a better understanding of yourself, identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour, build coping strategies, and work towards meaningful change.

The number of sessions required varies depending on each person’s circumstances, goals, and the difficulties they wish to explore. Some clients may benefit from a shorter course of therapy of around 6–12 sessions, while others may prefer longer-term support to explore deeper or more complex issues. We can regularly review progress together and ensure therapy remains focused on your needs.

Most common issues I support people with:

  • Anxiety and stress – Supporting clients to understand anxious thoughts, manage worries, and develop healthier coping strategies.
  • Depression and low mood – Helping clients explore feelings of sadness, low motivation, hopelessness, and difficulties that affect everyday life.
  • Low self-esteem and confidence – Supporting individuals to develop self-understanding, self-compassion, and a stronger sense of self-worth.
  • Trauma and difficult life experiences – Providing a safe space to process past experiences, emotional challenges, and their impact on wellbeing.
  • Bereavement and loss – Supporting clients through grief, loss, and the range of emotions that can follow the death of someone important.
