Nikki | counsellor/ therapist

Introduction

Finding the right counsellor can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re already carrying so much.

I’m Nikki, a professional, trauma‑focused integrative counsellor with knowledge and lived experience, and I offer a calm, compassionate space where you don’t have to pretend you’re okay.

My own journey through trauma is what led me into this work, and it’s why I understand how exhausting it can feel when you’re stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn next. I became the counsellor I wished had been there when I needed support.

I work with adults living with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, chronic stress, low mood, dissociation, relationship difficulties, people‑pleasing, burnout, or the long‑term impact of feeling unheard or unsupported. Many people come to me feeling lost, numb, on edge, or disconnected from themselves — and together we gently explore what’s going on beneath the surface.

My approach is integrative and person‑centred, using a blend of person‑centred therapy, solution‑focused work, CBT, trauma‑focused approaches and the Rewind Technique. I tailor these to what you need and what feels manageable for you, so the work always fits your pace and your story.

Some sessions focus on understanding your emotions and triggers; others explore your patterns, your history, or the ways your nervous system has learned to protect you. There’s no pressure, no judgment, and no expectation to “be strong”.

My office is in a quiet location, offering a peaceful, private space where you can talk openly and feel safe to explore whatever you’re carrying.

I believe therapy should feel human, warm, and accessible. You deserve a space where you can breathe, be heard, and slowly reconnect with the parts of yourself that trauma pushed into the background. If you’re ready to take that first step — even if you’re unsure what you need yet — I’m here to walk alongside you.

Online therapy

Online therapy works in much the same way as meeting in person, but from the comfort of your own home. I offer sessions through Zoom, which is secure, easy to use, and works well on phones, tablets, and laptops. Before your first session, I send you a link to click on and we connect.

Many clients find online sessions helpful because they can choose a quiet, familiar space where they feel safe. We work at your pace, exploring your feelings, reactions, and experiences just as we would face‑to‑face. Online therapy is especially supportive if you struggle with travel, fatigue, anxiety, chronic pain, or prefer the privacy of your own environment.

I offer both short-term and long-term work, depending on your needs.

Veterans
Childhood trauma
Relationship difficulties

I don't say the amount of sessions that would be needed as everyone is different

Most common issues I support people with:

  • Trauma & PTSD — I help people understand how trauma affects the body and mind, including flashbacks, triggers, shutdown, hypervigilance, and feeling disconnected from yourself. Together we explore what your nervous system has learned to do to keep you safe, and how to gently rebuild a sense of stability.

  • Anxiety & Overwhelm — Whether it shows up as constant worry, panic, racing thoughts, or feeling on edge, we look at what’s underneath the anxiety and how to calm your system. Sessions can include grounding, understanding patterns, and building confidence in managing day‑to‑day life.

  • Low Mood & Emotional Numbness — Many people come to me feeling flat, stuck, exhausted, or like they’ve “lost themselves”. We work on reconnecting with your emotions, understanding what’s weighing you down, and finding small steps forward that feel manageable.

  • People‑Pleasing & Boundaries — Often rooted in trauma or past relationships, people‑pleasing can leave you drained and unsure of who you are. We explore where these patterns came from and how to build healthier boundaries without guilt or fear.

  • Neurodiversity‑Related Challenges — I support adults with ADHD, Autism, dyslexia, sensory overwhelm, masking, burnout, emotional intensity, and the impact of feeling misunderstood. Sessions help you understand your brain, reduce shame, and find ways of living that actually work for you
