Introduction
Hi, I'm Maxine and I offer a down-to-earth space for Teens, Young Adults, and Adults across Nottingham, West Bridgford, Beeston, Mapperley and surrounding areas, face to face in Nottingham as well as online across the UK.You might not have all the words for how you’re feeling—just a sense that something isn’t quite right. Maybe anxiety is taking up more space than you’d like, your mood feels low, or you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected.
Sometimes it’s about relationships, sometimes it’s the past, and sometimes it’s just a quiet sense of “I can’t keep doing things like this.”
Whatever brings you here, you don’t need to have it all figured out.
I offer confidential, professional counselling for anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and relationship difficulties, in a way that feels real, supportive, and genuinely human.
My approach is warm and collaborative—we go at your pace, focusing on what matters to you, without pressure or judgement.
Therapy with me isn’t about being analysed or “fixed.” It’s about having the space to talk openly, to make sense of things, and to begin to feel more like yourself again. Over time, that can mean feeling calmer, more confident, more in control—or simply lighter.
Working locally in Nottingham, I support people from all walks of life, whether you're based in the city centre, Arnold, Carlton, Sherwood, or Ruddington, or prefer the flexibility of online therapy across the UK.
Reaching out can feel like a big step. It’s completely okay if you’re unsure, nervous, or even a bit sceptical. You’re welcome to come just as you are.
If something here resonates, you’re very welcome to get in touch. You don’t have to commit to anything straight away—we can start with a simple conversation and see how it feels.
Online therapy
When we are having online sessions I work in my office to maintain confidentiality, and I ask that you are in a quiet place where you cannot be disturbed.
The platform I use is Zoom, and I will always have a back up of Whatsapp - in case of technical glitches!

Specialisations and Expertises
I offer modern, down-to-earth counselling and psychotherapy for people who want real change — less woo, more you.
I specialise in anxiety, depression, stress, and burnout, helping you make sense of what’s going on in your mind and body while building practical tools to feel calmer, clearer, and more in control. Whether you’re dealing with constant overthinking, low mood, or feeling emotionally exhausted, we work together to create meaningful, lasting shifts.
I also support clients working through trauma and PTSD, offering a safe, steady space to process difficult experiences without pressure or overwhelm.
Alongside this, I help individuals navigate relationship challenges — from dating and intimacy issues to family dynamics and communication struggles.
A core part of my work focuses on self-esteem and confidence, supporting you to move away from self-doubt and towards a stronger, more grounded sense of self.
If you’re feeling stuck, lost, or unsure about your next steps, I offer counselling for direction and life transitions, including career changes, identity shifts, and major life decisions.
I have a particular interest in identity and lived experience, including racial identity and LGBTQ+ identity, providing an inclusive, affirming, and culturally aware therapeutic space where all parts of you are welcome and celebrated.
I also work with insomnia and sleep issues, helping you understand the link between mental health and sleep, and develop healthier, sustainable patterns.
My practice supports teens, young adults, and students, as well as adults navigating the pressures of work, relationships, and modern life.
If you’re looking for therapy that is warm, relatable, and grounded — without jargon or fluff — I offer a space to talk, reflect, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
Most common issues I support people with:
Anxiety & Stress
If your mind feels like it never switches off, you’re not alone.
Anxiety can show up as constant overthinking, feeling on edge, panic attacks, or a sense that something bad is always about to happen—even when you can’t explain why.
Stress often shows up as irritability, poor sleep, constant pressure, or feeling like you’re always “on.” You might be coping on the outside, but underneath it feels like too much.
You might find yourself replaying conversations, struggling to relax, or feeling exhausted by your own thoughts. It can be hard to slow things down on your own.
I offer anxiety counselling in Nottingham and online, helping you understand what’s driving those feelings and find ways to feel calmer, more grounded, and back in control.
Depression & Low Mood
Depression isn’t always obvious. Sometimes it’s not deep sadness, but numbness, disconnection, or a loss of motivation.
Things that used to feel easy—or enjoyable—can start to feel heavy or pointless.
You might be feeling stuck, tired all the time, or questioning yourself more than usual.
Through depression counselling in Nottingham, we create a space where you don’t have to pretend you’re okay.
Together, we gently explore what’s going on and work towards helping you feel more like yourself again—at a pace that feels manageable.
Trauma & Past Experiences
Sometimes the past doesn’t stay in the past.
You might notice certain memories, feelings, or reactions showing up in ways that don’t quite make sense—or feel bigger than they “should.”
Trauma can affect how you feel in your body, how you relate to others, and how safe the world feels around you.
It isn’t always about one big event. It can be a build-up of experiences over time—things that were overwhelming, confusing, or never fully processed.
I offer trauma-informed counselling in Nottingham and online across the UK, working gently and at your pace to help you feel more grounded and less defined by what’s happened to you.
Relationships & Connection
Relationships can be one of the biggest sources of stress and confusion.
Whether it’s a partner, family member, or patterns you keep finding yourself in, it can feel frustrating when things don’t change.
You might be dealing with conflict, communication difficulties, or feeling unheard or disconnected.
Therapy gives you space to step back and understand what’s really going on—both in the relationship and within yourself—so you can begin to make clearer, more confident choices moving forward.
Self-Esteem & Confidence
Struggling with self-esteem can affect every part of your life—how you see yourself, your relationships, and the choices you make.
It might sound like a constant inner critic, self-doubt, or feeling “not good enough,” even when others see you differently.
Together, we work on building a more compassionate and realistic relationship with yourself. Over time, that can mean feeling more confident, more secure, and more able to show up as who you really are.
