Jack | Psychotherapist and Counsellor

Introduction

You might be feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, numb, angry, disconnected, or unable to switch off. You may be overthinking everything, struggling in relationships, feeling not good enough, or caught in patterns you do not fully understand. It can be exhausting when so much energy goes into getting through the day, second-guessing yourself, managing other people’s expectations, or keeping difficult feelings out of sight.

I have particular understanding of anxiety, parenting, ADHD, men’s mental health, and the LGBTQ+ community, but whatever brings you here, we can begin with what feels difficult now. I can help you find ways to manage better in the here and now, while also making room to explore deeper patterns, relationships, past experiences, and questions about who you are and how you want to live.

My work is rooted in psychodynamic and existential psychotherapy. That means we may look at patterns, relationships, the past, identity, meaning, choice, and how you relate to yourself and others. I also draw on CBT, mindfulness and systemic ideas where useful. I do not work from a rigid formula; the work is shaped around you.

You do not need to have everything worked out before getting in touch. You may not know how to explain what is happening, only that something feels difficult, stuck, painful, or too much to carry. We can start there, making sense of it together and seeing what needs attention first.

Getting started

You can contact me by phone, email, or WhatsApp to arrange an initial session. If you prefer, we can first talk through what you need, any questions you have, and how I may be able to help.

Online therapy

Online therapy can work very well for many people. Some prefer the convenience, flexibility and familiarity of meeting from their own space. Sessions remain confidential, and all you need is a private place where you feel comfortable talking, along with a reliable internet connection.

Neither online nor in-person therapy is automatically better. They are different, and we can discuss what feels right for you.

Specialisations and Expertises

How I work

I work psychodynamically and existentially, which means the work often goes beneath the surface. We may look at patterns, relationships, past experiences, the meaning you make of things, and what gets in the way of living more fully. I also draw on mindfulness, CBT-informed tools, and other practical approaches where helpful, particularly when distress needs support in the here and now.

Parenting, fatherhood and identity

My doctoral research focuses on single caregiving fathers. This sits at the intersection of identity, loss, attachment, masculinity, and parenting without a partner. It has deepened my understanding of fatherhood, parenting under pressure, and the ways men may carry difficulty quietly.

I welcome parents of all kinds into therapy, including fathers, mothers, and single caregivers. Parenting can be one of the most demanding and identity-shifting experiences a person goes through, and it often deserves more space than it gets.

ADHD and neurodiversity

I also have a strong interest in neurodiversity, particularly ADHD. This includes both practical strategies and the deeper questions of shame, identity, confidence, relationships, and self-understanding that can come with a diagnosis, a late diagnosis, or the suspicion of one.

Who I work with

More broadly, I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, relationship difficulties, identity questions, and life transitions. I see adults from all backgrounds and tailor the work to the individual rather than applying a fixed formula.

Further reading

I also write articles on therapy, anxiety, ADHD, emotional wellbeing, and related themes, which may give you another sense of how I approach my work: read my articles.

Most common issues I support people with:

Anxiety
Persistent worry, overthinking, panic, or never quite being able to switch off. Anxiety can feel relentless, but it often begins to make more sense when we look at what it is connected to.

Depression and low mood
Heaviness, numbness, loss of motivation, or feeling disconnected from life. Sometimes it is hard to explain why you feel this way, which can make it feel even more isolating.

Trauma and difficult pasts
Experiences that still echo in your body, relationships, or sense of self, even when the events themselves feel far away.

Relationships, attachment and parenting
Patterns in how you connect, withdraw, argue, love, or protect yourself. This can include the emotional weight of parenting, identity shifts, guilt, pressure, and the challenge of supporting a child who may also be struggling.

Neurodiversity and identity
Whether you are navigating ADHD, exploring a late diagnosis, or trying to understand how your mind works, therapy can offer space to make sense of yourself with less shame and self-criticism. This can also connect with wider questions of identity, meaning, and how to build a life that fits you.
