James | Counselling, Coaching

Counselling and Coaching Aylesbury

Hi, I’m James (MNCPS), a qualified counsellor, therapist and coach with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.

I offer online therapy and coaching for young people, men, and women who are experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and general wellbeing issues.

My approach combines therapeutic support with practical coaching techniques to help clients build confidence, resilience, and lasting emotional balance.

I also provide guidance for parents and guardians, helping them better understand and support the emotional and developmental needs of their children.

With over 20 years of experience working with young people - from counselling roles to serving as a football coach for Buckinghamshire County Council and a volunteer counsellor with Youth Concern - I’ve developed a deep understanding of the pressures faced by both young people and their families.

Having spent more than 25 years in the construction industry, I’ve also seen first-hand the emotional strain men often experience due to work and family pressures. My goal is to challenge the stigma around men’s mental health and create an open, supportive space where both men and women feel comfortable exploring their feelings and working toward positive change.

For clients under 18, parental consent is required to ensure the best care possible. Home visits can be arranged if needed.

I look forward to supporting you through therapy and coaching on your journey toward better mental health and wellbeing.

Online therapy

Online therapy can be a very effective way of supporting people with anxiety, depression, trauma, and anger management, and other well-being issues.

Online therapy provides accessible, confidential, and flexible mental health support, allowing clients to engage in therapeutic work from a safe and familiar environment. This can be especially helpful for individuals who may feel overwhelmed by face-to-face sessions, experience mobility issues, or have busy schedules.

Most common issues I support people with:

Anxiety

Online therapy helps individuals understand the root causes of their anxiety and develop practical coping strategies. Through techniques such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), grounding exercises, and mindfulness, clients can learn to manage anxious thoughts, reduce physical symptoms, and build confidence in everyday situations. Being able to access support from home can also reduce anxiety around attending appointments.

Depression

For those experiencing depression, online therapy offers a consistent space to explore feelings of low mood, hopelessness, and loss of motivation. Therapy can support clients in identifying negative thought patterns, reconnecting with meaningful activities, and improving emotional regulation. Regular online sessions help reduce isolation and encourage structure and routine.

Trauma

Online therapy can be particularly beneficial for trauma survivors, as it allows them to engage in therapy from a place where they feel safe and in control. Trauma-informed approaches help clients process distressing experiences at their own pace, reduce symptoms such as flashbacks or hypervigilance, and develop grounding and stabilisation skills. The option to pause, reflect, or adjust sessions can increase a sense of safety and empowerment.

Anger Management

Online therapy supports individuals in understanding the underlying emotions that drive anger, such as frustration, fear, or hurt. Clients can learn healthier ways to express emotions, improve communication skills, and develop strategies to manage triggers and impulsive reactions. Practical tools and reflection between sessions help promote long-term emotional regulation.
