Suzanna | Psychotherapist
Introduction
Hello, I'm Suzanna, a relational psychotherapist working with individuals, couples and families. I offer both long-term psychotherapy and shorter-term psychotherapeutic counselling, depending on your needs and goals.
Seeking therapy can feel like a significant step. Many people contact me after spending months or even years trying to manage things on their own. You may feel uncertain about where to begin, worried about being judged, or unsure whether therapy is right for you. These concerns are completely understandable. My aim is to offer a warm, compassionate and collaborative space where you can talk openly and feel genuinely heard.
My approach is grounded in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy and a relational way of working. This means I am interested not only in the difficulties that bring you to therapy, but also in understanding your experiences, relationships and the unique story that has shaped who you are. Together, we explore what may be contributing to your current challenges and identify opportunities for growth, change and greater self-understanding.
Unlike approaches that focus solely on symptom management, psychotherapy offers the opportunity to explore underlying emotional and relational experiences in greater depth. Through increased awareness, reflection and the therapeutic relationship itself, many people develop greater choice, self-acceptance and freedom in how they live their lives.
Before training as a psychotherapist, I spent many years working in education, leadership and wellbeing roles. These experiences continue to inform my understanding of the pressures, responsibilities and challenges that many people face in both their personal and professional lives.
I offer sessions in person in North East Lincolnshire and online across the UK.
Online therapy
I offer online therapy via Microsoft Teams to clients across the UK.
Online therapy provides the same confidential and professional therapeutic space as face-to-face work while offering greater flexibility and convenience. Many clients appreciate being able to attend sessions from the comfort and privacy of their own home, without the need to travel.
Sessions take place in a secure video meeting and can be accessed using a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. All you need is a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable talking and a reliable internet connection.
Research has shown that online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy for many people. While the experience may feel slightly different, a strong therapeutic relationship can still develop, allowing for meaningful exploration, understanding and change.
If you are new to online therapy, I am happy to answer any questions and help you feel comfortable with the process before we begin.

Specialisations and Expertises
My work centres on the relationship we have with ourselves and the relationships we have with others. I am particularly interested in how past experiences can shape self-worth, emotional wellbeing, communication, intimacy, trust and connection.
Through relational psychotherapy, I help individuals, couples and families develop greater awareness of themselves and their relationships, creating opportunities for meaningful and lasting change.
The number of sessions required varies depending on the nature of the difficulties being experienced and what you hope to achieve through therapy. Some clients attend for around 6–20 sessions to focus on a specific issue, while others choose to engage in therapy over a much longer, open-ended period to explore more complex or longstanding difficulties. We can discuss together what may be most appropriate for your circumstances and review this as our work progresses.
Most common issues I support people with:
Self-Worth and the Relationship with Yourself
Many people struggle with a harsh inner critic, feelings of not being good enough, or a tendency to place the needs of others before their own. You may appear confident and capable on the outside while privately questioning yourself, feeling disconnected from your own needs, or finding it difficult to set boundaries. Therapy can help you understand where these beliefs and experiences may have originated, develop greater self-compassion, and build a healthier, more authentic relationship with yourself.
Relationship Difficulties
Relationships can be one of the greatest sources of fulfilment in our lives, but also one of the greatest sources of pain. You may find yourself caught in recurring conflicts, struggling to trust others, feeling emotionally disconnected, or repeating familiar difficulties across different relationships. Together, we can explore not only what is happening in your relationships today, but also the deeper emotional experiences and ways of relating that may be influencing them.
Trauma and Difficult Life Experiences
Trauma can arise from a single distressing event or from repeated experiences over time. Its impact may show up in many ways, including anxiety, emotional numbness, low self-worth, difficulties trusting others, relationship challenges, or a persistent feeling of being unsafe. Therapy provides a space to process these experiences at a pace that feels manageable, helping you make sense of their impact and move towards healing and recovery.
Anxiety, Stress and Burnout
Anxiety and overwhelm can affect every area of life, leaving you feeling exhausted, constantly on edge, emotionally drained or unable to switch off. Often, anxiety is not simply something to be managed but an important signal that something within us needs attention and understanding. Therapy can help you explore what may be contributing to these feelings while developing a more compassionate and sustainable relationship with yourself.
Autism/ADHD
Many neurodivergent adults have spent years feeling misunderstood, masking aspects of themselves, or trying to adapt to environments that were not designed with them in mind. Therapy can provide a space where your experiences are understood and respected, helping you explore identity, relationships, communication, emotional overwhelm and self-acceptance. Together, we can make sense of your experiences and support you in finding ways of living that feel more authentic and sustainable.
