Sara | Integrative Counsellor
Introduction
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve been through difficult experiences or aren’t sure what to expect. You might be wondering whether it will really help, or if you’ll feel understood. That’s completely okay. My role is to offer a space where you can simply be yourself, without fear of judgement or pressure to be anything else.
Clients often tell me they find it easy to open up with me, that they feel heard, respected, and accepted for who they are. I believe that healing begins in a genuine relationship built on trust, openness, and honesty. We’ll talk not only about what’s happening in your life, but also about how we relate and work together, because that relationship is often where the most meaningful change takes place. I’ll always check in with you to see how you’re finding our sessions and whether the way we’re working feels right for you.
My approach is integrative, drawing from psychodynamic and person-centred perspectives. This means I adapt to your individual needs, exploring how past experiences may still shape the present while supporting you to develop self-understanding, self-compassion, and new ways forward.
You’re the expert on your own life; my role is to walk alongside you, helping you make sense of things, find your voice and move towards the life you want. Whether you’re feeling anxious, low, or lost, therapy can be a space to pause, reflect and begin to reconnect with yourself again.
Online therapy
Online sessions offer the same level of care, confidentiality, and support as face-to-face therapy, but with the convenience of meeting from your own space. Many clients find this especially helpful if they have busy schedules, mobility difficulties, or simply feel more comfortable at home.
I usually work via Google Meet, which is secure, easy to use, and doesn’t require any special software - I’ll simply send you a private link before each session.
Before we start, I’ll talk you through how online sessions work and make sure you feel confident and comfortable using whichever option suits you best.
Qualifications and registrations
I hold an MSc in Psychology and have completed Levels 2–4 in Counselling, with my Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling focusing on both psychodynamic and person-centred approaches.
As an Individual Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and am committed to ongoing professional development to deepen and enhance my practice.
My integrative training allows me to draw from multiple therapeutic models to suit each client’s unique needs - blending insight from psychodynamic theory with the empathy and authenticity of person-centred work. I continue to build on this foundation through specialist training in areas such as trauma-informed practice, cultural sensitivity, and faith-integrated therapy.

Specialisations and Expertises
I specialise in supporting women who’ve been through painful or difficult experiences including abuse in relationships, childhood trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety, or depression. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling unheard, disconnected, or unsure of who they are. They are exhausted from carrying everything alone, unsure of where to begin, or afraid to open up after being hurt.
My approach is integrative, combining psychodynamic understanding of past experiences with the person-centred values of empathy, acceptance, and authenticity. This means sessions are adapted to each person’s needs, helping you explore the root of your difficulties while developing healthier ways to cope in the present.
I believe that therapy works best when it feels like a genuine human connection; a space built on trust, honesty, and warmth. The relationship between us is central to the healing process and I aim to create an environment where you feel safe enough to be yourself and explore at your own pace.
The number of sessions really depends on you and your goals - some people find a shorter series of sessions helps them feel steadier, while others choose to continue longer-term to work through deeper patterns and make lasting change.
Most common issues I support people with:
-
Recovery from Abuse and Trauma
I work with women and men who have experienced abusive relationships, childhood abuse, or coercive control, supporting them to rebuild a sense of safety, self-worth, and trust. Together, we gently process painful experiences and move towards healing and empowerment -
Low Self-Esteem and Self-Worth
Many of my clients struggle with feelings of inadequacy or self-criticism that stem from past experiences. In therapy, we explore where these beliefs began and work on nurturing a stronger, kinder inner voice. -
Anxiety and Depression
I support clients in understanding and managing symptoms of anxiety, low mood, and emotional overwhelm. Using integrative tools, we work on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and developing a sense of calm and stability. -
Relationship Difficulties and Breakdowns
Whether coping with heartbreak, family conflict, or patterns that repeat across relationships, therapy provides a space to understand what’s happening beneath the surface - and to learn new, healthier ways of relating to others. -
Identity and Life Transitions
Many people I see feel lost, disconnected, or unsure of who they are after years of putting others first. I help clients explore identity, values, and personal meaning, especially following major life changes or cultural and faith-related challenges.
