Caroline | Therapeutic Counsellor
Introduction
Therapy changed my life and so I know first hand how transformative it can be. When I was struggling, my therapist helped me navigate some of the most difficult periods of my life. They sat alongside me in my pain without judgement, creating a space where I felt safe enough to be completely honest and vulnerable. For the first time, I was able to express my thoughts, feelings and inner experiences openly, without shame or fear of being misunderstood. Through that relationship, I felt truly seen, heard and accepted, which helped me develop a deeper understanding and acceptance of myself.
I know from personal experience how powerful it can be to sit with someone who genuinely listens. Speaking my thoughts and worries out loud gave me a different perspective. It helped me make sense of my experiences, recognise patterns, explore new possibilities and develop healthier ways of relating to myself and others. Most importantly, it gave me hope at a time when I needed it most.
The experience of therapy was life-changing, and it is one of the reasons I chose to become a therapist. I aim to offer others the same warmth, acceptance and support that I received. My aim is to provide a safe and compassionate space where you can explore life's challenges, deepen your understanding of yourself, and make meaningful changes that help you live more fully and authentically.
Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect and make sense of what is happening in your life. Sometimes simply having the time to talk openly, without judgement or expectation, can help you gain clarity, understand yourself more deeply and begin to find a way forward.
Some of the reasons people come to counselling include:
Low self-worth and self-doubt
You may find yourself questioning your decisions, focusing on your mistakes or struggling to recognise your strengths. Perhaps you compare yourself to others, worry about getting things wrong, or find it difficult to accept praise or acknowledge your achievements. Over time, this can leave you feeling stuck, disconnected from your confidence, or held back from pursuing opportunities and relationships that matter to you.
Relationship difficulties
Relationships can be a source of comfort and connection, but they can also be painful, confusing and challenging. You may feel unheard, misunderstood or disconnected from the people around you. Perhaps you find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, struggling to set boundaries, or wondering why certain relationships leave you feeling drained or uncertain. Therapy can provide a space to explore these experiences and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and others.
Trauma, grief and loss
Some experiences leave a lasting impact on how we feel, think and relate to the world around us. You may be carrying the effects of a difficult childhood, a painful relationship, a traumatic event, or the loss of someone important to you. Grief is not limited to bereavement. It can also arise from changes, endings, unmet hopes or the life you expected to have. Together, we can gently explore these experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
Stress, anxiety and feeling overwhelmed
Perhaps life feels relentless and you are constantly trying to keep up with the demands placed upon you. You may find yourself overthinking, worrying about the future, struggling to switch off, or feeling emotionally exhausted. Sometimes anxiety can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, uncertain about who you are beyond the roles and responsibilities you carry. Therapy can help you slow things down, understand what is contributing to these feelings, and reconnect with what matters most to you.
Self-harm and coping strategies that no longer serve you
When emotions feel overwhelming, it is natural to look for ways to cope. You may find yourself relying on behaviours that once helped you get through difficult times but now leave you feeling stuck, such as self-harm, emotional eating, overworking, using alcohol, or staying constantly busy to avoid difficult feelings. Therapy offers a safe and compassionate space to understand what these coping strategies are trying to achieve and to explore alternative ways of meeting your needs.

Specialisations and Expertises
What therapy looks like is different for everyone.Because I work from a Pluralistic Approach I integrate different theories to suit your individual needs, so therapy is bespoke to you. My approach is Trauma-informed and includes CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamics.
There is no long-term commitment, and you are always in control of how many sessions you have. However, I usually recommend starting with a minimum of six sessions. This allows us the necessary time to build a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship and begin making meaningful sense of your experiences.
Some issues can benefit from Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which may take less sessions. Examples include Sleep Issues/insomnia, Anxiety, Depression, Anger Issues etc
If you need evening sessions, please feel free to ask.
Most common issues I support people with:
You may recognise some of these experiences in your own life:
Perhaps you find yourself questioning your worth or doubting your abilities, even when others see your strengths. You might struggle to accept compliments, minimise your achievements, or feel held back by fears of failure, judgement or rejection.
You may feel lonely, misunderstood or disconnected in your relationships. Perhaps you find it difficult to express your needs, set boundaries, or understand why certain patterns seem to repeat themselves. You might long for deeper, more meaningful connections, but feel unsure how to create them.
Maybe you are carrying the impact of a painful experience, loss or disappointment that continues to affect you. You may find yourself replaying events in your mind, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, or struggling to make sense of what has happened. At times, it can feel easier to avoid these feelings than to face them.
Perhaps life feels unfulfilling or lacking direction. You may feel stuck, uncertain about the future, or disconnected from who you are beyond the roles and responsibilities you carry. You might sense that something needs to change, but not know where to begin.
You may also find yourself relying on ways of coping that no longer feel helpful. This could include self-harm, using food or alcohol to manage difficult emotions, overworking, or keeping yourself constantly busy to avoid slowing down and facing what is really going on beneath the surface.
Whatever brings you to therapy, you do not have to face it alone. Therapy can offer a space to explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and find new ways of moving forward.
