Anita | Person Centred Counsellor

Introduction

Hello, I'm Anita

There are times in life when we lose sight of who we are. You may find yourself constantly putting others first, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, carrying the weight of past experiences, struggling with addiction or recovery, navigating difficult relationships, or simply wondering, "When did I stop feeling like myself?"

You don't have to work through those feelings alone.

I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental counselling space where you can talk freely, without fear of being judged or expected to have all the answers. My role isn't to tell you what to do or offer quick fixes. Instead, I walk alongside you, helping you make sense of your experiences, understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and reconnect with the person you truly are.

As a qualified person-centred counsellor and registered member of the BACP, I believe that every person has the capacity for growth when they feel genuinely heard, accepted and understood. Together, we work at your pace, exploring whatever feels important to you in a way that feels safe and manageable.

Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience that enables me to connect with clients with authenticity and empathy. My own journey has included serving in the Armed Forces, working within education, raising children as a single parent, experiencing addiction and recovery within my own life and family, navigating grief, menopause and life's many unexpected challenges. These experiences have shaped my belief that healing isn't about becoming someone new—it's about reconnecting with the person you've always been beneath the layers of survival.

I have experience supporting adults with anxiety, depression, addiction, low self-esteem, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, neurodiversity, identity, stress and life transitions. I have a particular passion for working with people who have spent years masking, people-pleasing, surviving or feeling disconnected from themselves and now want to build a life that feels more authentic, balanced and fulfilling.

Seeking counselling can feel like a big step, but it can also be the beginning of something meaningful. Whatever has brought you here, you deserve to be listened to with kindness, respect and compassion.

If you're ready to begin your journey back to yourself, I'd be honoured to walk alongside you.

Online therapy

How Online Counselling Works with me

I provide online counselling via Zoom, offering a safe, confidential and convenient way to access therapy from the comfort of your own home or any private space where you feel comfortable.

Once we've arranged your appointment, I'll send you a secure Zoom link by email before your session. At the agreed time, simply click the link to join. There's no need to create a Zoom account if you're joining through your web browser, although you may find the app provides the best experience.

Sessions last 50 minutes and are conducted in much the same way as face-to-face counselling. We'll spend time exploring whatever has brought you to counselling, working at your pace in a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental environment.

To get the most from your session, I recommend finding a quiet, private space where you won't be interrupted. A stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone, such as a laptop, tablet or smartphone, will help ensure the session runs smoothly. Using headphones can also provide additional privacy and improve sound quality.

Everything discussed during our sessions is treated with the same level of confidentiality as in-person counselling, in line with my professional and ethical responsibilities as a registered BACP counsellor.

Online counselling offers flexibility, making it easier to fit therapy around work, family commitments, mobility needs or geographical location, while still allowing us to build a meaningful therapeutic relationship.

If you have any questions about online counselling or would like to arrange a free initial consultation, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
