Counselling Wilmslow

With so many demands on your time, it’s easy to find yourself at the bottom of your priority list. There’s always something or someone that needs your attention, so the idea of self-care may seem like an indulgence that you just don’t have time for. I find that life has a way of making us stop and listen, whether that be through a physical or mental health concern, family or relationship difficulty, problems at work or a major life event.

I'm here to help you through these challenges.

You deserve to be heard. You deserve to be listened to. That’s where counselling comes in. Walking into my therapy room, you’ll be met with a genuine warmth and empathy. The transformative power of being accepted, just as you are, without judgement and of being truly seen and heard, is like no other.

Often people wonder what they’ll find to talk about or whether their problems are really ‘big enough’.  Believe me when I say there’s no problem too big or too small. In our sessions, I will help you to explore what’s going on emotionally so that you can find out what’s lying underneath any uncomfortable feelings. It’s a journey of self-discovery and in my experience, a journey that leads to an enhanced feeling of wellbeing.

I know that taking that first step can be daunting. I’ve been there too. My aim is to make that step as easy as possible.

So if you’re ready to make a change, please get in touch.  We can arrange an initial consultation so that you can find out more about how I can help you feel better.

Experience

I currently work in private practice, providing individual counselling in-person from my therapy rooms in Wilmslow, Cheshire and online using a secure teletherapy platform.

I have previously worked with a number of charitable and not-for-profit organisations, providing individual counselling to help with a range of issues such as low self-esteem, anxiety, low mood, bereavement, chronic conditions and crisis intervention.

I also have experience of working with groups and individuals in a corporate setting, where I support people with issues such as anxiety, stress, burnout and overwhelm.

Specialisations

My core practitioner training was based in the humanistic modality of Person-Centred Counselling, following the work of Carl Rogers.  As a Rogerian Therapist, it is my belief that we all, as humans, have the potential for growth and for self-actualisation, given the right environment.  My aim as a counsellor is therefore to create this environment through the therapeutic relationship.

I practice a non-directive approach, allowing you, the client, to lead the sessions in whatever direction you feel is most crucial.  I will help you to explore any underlying emotions, identify triggers and work towards developing a greater sense of wellbeing.

As Carl Rogers said: "It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are cruicial, what experiences have been deeply buried."

Most common issues I support people with:

Loss & Grief

We are all touched by loss at some point in our lives and grief can have a significant physical and psychological effect.  As we all experience grief in different ways, there is no 'one-size fits all' approach to grieving.  Counselling can help you to find solace and understanding, helping you to gradually heal, embracing both the pain of loss and hope for the future.

Low mood & Anxiety

With or without a formal diagnosis, we can all experience periods of low mood and anxiety. Counselling can help you to identify your triggers and work towards developing healthy ways to manage these feelings, helping you to regain control of your emotions and improve your overall wellbeing.

Stress & Burnout

We all experience stress from time to time, but prolonged stress can lead to burnout, a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion. Counselling can help you to explore the underlying cause, finding ways to manage your stress, through prioritising self-care and setting healthy boundaries.

Fees

Individual sessions are charged at £60.

I kindly request that payment is made by BACS prior to the session, or by cash/card on the day.
