Sarah-Jane | Counselling Psychotherapist
Counselling and Psychotherapy Bedale
Hello, I’m Sarah-Jane, a BACP-registered integrative counsellor offering both face-to-face and online therapy for adults. I provide a calm, supportive space where you can pause, reflect, and begin to make sense of what’s happening in your life.
People come to me for many reasons - depression, anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief or simply feeling lost or overwhelmed. Sometimes it’s a major life transition, such as divorce, bereavement, or a change in identity or direction. Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to face it alone.
My approach is warm, grounded, and collaborative. I draw on a range of therapeutic models, including Person-Centred, CBT, Gestalt, and Attachment-based approaches, to tailor our work to your individual needs. Together, we can explore the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck, helping you reconnect with your sense of self and move towards greater clarity and confidence.
I also have a particular interest in supporting people through relationship endings and new beginnings. Alongside my counselling work, I’m writing a book exploring the emotional journey of divorce and rediscovery, a topic close to my heart and professional practice.
Whether you’re facing a crisis, a period of transition, or simply need space to breathe and be heard, therapy can be a valuable step towards healing and change.
You’re welcome to get in touch, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you as you navigate whatever lies ahead.
If you would like to know more or book an appointment, please send me a message via the send a message - button.
Online therapy
Online therapy offers the same level of care, confidentiality, and connection as in-person sessions, but from the comfort of your own space. I provide online counselling via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or securely through the Halaxy platform, depending on your preference.
Before our first session, I’ll send you a simple link to join, there’s no need to download anything complicated. Many clients find online therapy more flexible and accessible, allowing them to fit sessions around work, family, or travel while still feeling fully supported.
Together, we create a calm, private space to talk openly, wherever you are.

Specialisations and Expertises
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, loss, and periods of change. My focus is to help you make sense of what’s happening, build resilience, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Therapy can be short-term, focusing on a specific issue, or longer-term for deeper exploration. We’ll agree together what feels right for you and review progress as we go.
Most common issues I support people with:
1. Anxiety and Overwhelm
Helping you understand and manage anxiety, racing thoughts, and emotional overload. Together, we explore the roots of your anxiety and build strategies to restore calm and control.
2. Relationship and Family Difficulties
Supporting individuals facing relationship breakdowns, communication struggles, blended family dynamics, or separation. Therapy offers a space to process, reflect, and find clarity in your connections.
3. Life Transitions and Change
From divorce to bereavement, career shifts, or identity changes - major transitions can leave you feeling lost or uncertain. I offer grounding support to help you navigate change and rebuild confidence.
4. Low Mood and Self-Esteem
When sadness, self-criticism, or a loss of motivation take hold, we work together to understand what’s beneath those feelings and rediscover a sense of hope and self-worth.
5. Loss, Grief, and Letting Go
Whether through death, relationship endings, or unexpected change, loss can reshape how we see ourselves and the world. Therapy provides a gentle, compassionate space to process and begin healing.
