Stephen | Psychotherapist

Psychotherapy Sedbergh

I’m Stephen, a psychotherapist based in Cumbria offering nature-based walk-and-talk and online therapy.

My approach is grounded, supportive, and practical - helping those who feel stressed, overwhelmed, or disconnected to reconnect with themselves, their values, and what matters most.

I specialise in men’s mental health, trauma, addiction, burnout, and the challenges of work, relationships, and identity. I believe that therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical - it can be honest, down-to-earth, and active.

Alongside online sessions, I work outdoors in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, where the rhythm of walking in nature creates a safe, less pressured space to talk. From Spring 2026, I’ll also be offering Paddle-Board Therapy - combining movement on the water with reflective conversation to support calm, confidence, and resilience.

If you would like to know more or book an appointment, please send me a message via the send a message - button.

Online therapy

Online therapy with me is about taking practical steps towards strength, clarity, and confidence. For many people, and for men in particular, online therapy offers a flexible and discreet way to get support without needing to travel.

Zoom, we meet wherever you are - whether that’s at home, in the office, or on the road.Just like in my walk-and-talk sessions, the focus is straightforward and grounded: cutting through the noise; exploring what really matters; and helping you build resilience, clarity, and confidence.

The aim is simple: to support you in standing tall again and a
nd to take steps towards living with greater purpose and ease.

  • Addiction and recovery

  • Abuse and relational wounds

I offer walk-and-talk therapy in the Lake District and Cumbria, as well as online sessions via Zoom. From spring 2026, Paddle-Board Therapy will also be available - combining movement on water with reflective conversation.

Every client’s journey is unique. Some find between 6 and 12 sessions helpful to focus on a specific issue, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns and create lasting change. Together we’ll shape the approach that feels right for you.

Most common issues I support people with:

The Top 5 Issues I Support People With

  1. Men’s Mental Health - creating space for men to open up honestly and explore what’s going on beneath the surface.

  2. Trauma & PTSD - helping people process difficult experiences in a safe, grounded way.

  3. Addiction & Recovery - supporting change and building healthier coping strategies.

  4. Burnout & Stress - finding balance, resilience, and practical ways forward when life feels relentless.

  5. Identity & Relationships - exploring challenges around work, family, and sense of self.

Whether outdoors in Cumbria or online via Zoom, I work in a straightforward, supportive way to help people reconnect with themselves and what matters most.
