Hi, I'm Laura, I am a person centred counsellor. I can offer you a space where you are valued and accepted, where you can take time to understand your feelings and find ways of managing the challenges you're experiencing.
My experience / examples of things I can help you with
I can help you to explore the things that are troubling you right now. Whether that's anxiety, depression, life changes, relationships, health, work stress, self confidence / self worth - these are just a few examples.
My experience includes working with people who are neurodivergent (mainly ADHD and / or Autism / late diagnosed / suspected), people with a sight impairment and people with long-term health conditions. Together we can explore one or more of these things, or you may want to explore another issue, but with someone who will be understanding of who you are and any particular needs you may have.
I also have personal experience of supporting a family member through cancer. You may be looking to talk about your own cancer journey or your experience of supporting / caring for a family member or friend. I understand there are many layers to this - not just your worries and fears about the diagnosis, but the impact it can have on your everyday life and responsibilities.

I am trained in trauma-focused therapy. If you are looking to process one or more traumatic / distressing experiences we can use a range of techniques to help with this, including managing the emotions and feelings you're experiencing as a result.
What our counselling sessions might be like
In our sessions together, you'll be able to talk about whatever feels right at that time. I may give you some prompts or questions to help focus on something you've said. We may stick to exploring what's going on right now, or you may also want to look into the past. If talking feels too overwhelming, we might do some grounding techniques together or find some creative ways to help express yourself.
I generally recommend weekly sessions, but can also accommodate fortnightly. We can work together for a short amount of time (for example six sessions) or we can agree to something longer term.

Online therapy
We'll do online sessions either via Google Meet or WhatsApp. We also have the option of telephone.Qualifications and registrations
I'm a qualified counsellor and have completed the following training:

Level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling

I am qualified to work with adults (aged 18+).
I'm an Accredited Registrant member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.)
I'm committed to my own continuous professional development (cpd), meaning I read, listen, watch and train to keep up to date, enhance my knowledge and help me think about things from a different perspective. I also regularly engage with other counsellors to share best practice and gain from other people's experiences.
