Counselling Cheltenham

Hi, I'm Stefan, a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor with a focus on Person - Centred and Psychodynamic modalities.
My goal is to help you discover insights, overcome challenges, and foster personal growth. I am dedicated to maintaining high ethical standards, ensuring honesty, genuineness, and openness in our therapeutic relationship. I am here to walk alongside you every step of the way, supporting your growth and well-being, and I invite you to read more about my approach.

I really know how you must feel if you did not land on this webpage by mistake, and I can only promise you that I am able to acknowledge and drop all expectations and judgments to be able to hear you for the first time.

With a rich multicultural background and experience in various professional environments, from private business to corporate and from individual to managing numerous teams, m
y life took an interesting turn, leading me to the path of counselling after facing my own questions and challenges years ago.
Fluent in both English and Romanian, I can offer therapy sessions in both languages and this is an advantage that some of my clients benefit from.

I recognise both the subconscious influences and the individual's inherent potential for growth and self-discovery. Together, we will work towards increasing self-awareness, exploring emotional issues, and developing healthier coping mechanisms

I value compassion and strive to keep it present in your therapy, as we often grow away from showing compassion to ourselves.

I strongly believe in confidentialityprofessionalism, and ethical values while embracing the uniqueness of my human side. I aim to connect in a therapeutic relationship characterized by honestyfairness, and commitment.

I recognize the importance of trauma and past experiences, as well as your unique motivation and triggers, approaching them without judgment.

My shy creative side tends to be brougth into our sessions whenever we encounter challenges.

I offer a flexible approach, allowing for either open-ended sessions or a set number of sessions, depending on your preferences and needs. Regularity of sessions is essential for your progress, and I am open to accommodating your work and other commitments when possible.

In the end, what truly matters is that you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment.

I believe in your autonomy, so you are the navigator of your therapeutic journey, and I am here to support and empower you every step of the way.

I work with adults over 18.

I often work with an open-ended contract, for as long as you need and feel you benefit from our relationship, but therapy can be arranged for a set number of sessions if you want to address a specific issue.

Please contact me to ask any question, check availability or to schedule an initial no obligation free of charge 15 minutes call.

Online therapy

Online counseling offers you the opportunity to receive support and guidance from the comfort of your private space, without the hassle of traveling. It's a flexible and accessible option, ideal for those who face challenges with mobility, social anxiety, or traveling long distances. I will be supporting you even if you're not completely familiar with digital tools.

I usually use online video platform that you will be able to access without any hassle just by accessing the link provided but we can use WhatsApp too if that is what you prefer.

Sessions last for 50 minutes.

Blending the convenience of online counselling with the personal touch of in-person sessions, may be what you feel most comfortable with.

I you wish so, we can tailor the alternation between online and in-person sessions, providing you with the freedom to choose what works best for you at different points in your journey.

As your counsellor, my goal is to ensure that you feel supported and empowered throughout, regardless of the format.

Specialisations

I believe in the power of understanding each person's unique experience. As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw from the foundational works of Sigmund Freud's psychodynamic theory and I am influenced by the empathetic approach of Carl Rogers, the father of person-centred therapy.
These may be terms you’ve not heard of, you can find out more about this approach from the BACP:

In our collaboration, I offer a flexible approach, allowing for either open-ended sessions or a set number of sessions, depending on your preferences and needs.

Most common issues I support people with:

Anxiety

Are you finding it hard to shake off those worries and fears? Remember, you're not alone – many people experience anxiety at some point in their lives. As a caring counselor, I understand the challenges anxiety can bring. It's a natural emotion that we can work through together. Seeking support is a sign of strength, you don't have to face it alone, I'm here to walk alongside you.

Depression

Depression is a challenging emotional state that can persist and impact various aspects of life. It goes beyond feeling sad or down temporarily; it brings feelings of hopelessness, emptiness, and a loss of interest in things once enjoyed. Daily tasks may become difficult, and even getting out of bed can feel like an insurmountable challenge. It may bring changes in appetite and sleep patterns, low energy levels, and difficulty concentrating. Physical symptoms such as headaches or body aches might also come along.

It's crucial to recognize that depression is not a sign of weakness, and seeking help is an important step towards healing.

Relationships

Struggling with relationships can be challenging and emotionally taxing. Whether it's with family, friends, romantic partners, or colleagues, encountering difficulties can lead to feelings of frustration, isolation, and sadness. Communication breakdowns, conflicts, or a sense of disconnection may cause distress. During such times, seeking support and guidance can be beneficial. Working with a therapist can provide a safe space to explore and address underlying issues, improve communication skills, and gain valuable insights into your relationship dynamics.

Low Self-Esteem

Low self-esteem is a negative perception of oneself, where individuals feel inadequate and lack confidence in their abilities and worth. It involves having a critical view of one's appearance, achievements, or interactions with others. If you struggle with this, you may struggle to assert yourself, fear rejection, and have difficulty accepting compliments. This negative self-perception can impact various aspects of your life, leading to feelings of sadness, anxiety, or social isolation. It's essential to recognize that self-esteem can be improved with self-awareness and self-compassion.

Anger management

How do you relate to your anger? Do you embrace it as a natural aspect of being human with emotions? Do you tend to suppress it, keeping it from being expressed? Or does it erupt explosively, causing harm when it's released?

Regardless of your approach, managing anger can be a significant challenge, especially if it becomes uncontrollable or dominates your responses during stressful or frustrating times. Intense feelings of anger can be explored in a healthy and constructive way. It's a skill that helps individuals recognize triggers that lead to anger and learn to respond to them more calmly and effectively. Uncontrolled anger can negatively impact relationships, work, and overall well-being. People struggling with anger may experience a racing heart, clenched muscles, or a desire to lash out verbally or physically. Anger is a normal emotion, but managing it in a healthy manner can lead to better communication and stronger connections with others.
