Sharon | Counsellor, MBACP(ACCRED)
Counselling Darlington
My name is Sharon, counsellor in Darlington.
Deciding to talk to someone takes a lot of courage, and I recognise how important a decision this is for you. I offer a confidential space in which you can talk, and this means that I won't discuss the content of our work with anyone.
For any counselling to be effective, clients need to be able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist. My focus is on my clients, and listening to their problems and concerns without judgement in a supportive environment. I am passionate about the work I do.
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and therapist, and also a Accredited member of the BACP.
I am also fully insured.
Experience
I have experience of working in a Primary Care setting. I have spent time working and volunteering as a counsellor in the charity sector as well as counselling in schools and colleges.
I have gained experience in supporting and helping people dealing with a number of diverse issues including: stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship issues, panic disorder, phobias, anger management, family issues, abuse (sexual, domestic, physical,), low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, work related stress, bullying, self-harm, trauma, social anxiety.
I also have experience dealing with issues around gender and sexuality.
I spent a year working in schools and colleges specifically with young people struggling with drug/alcohol abuse.
I am also trained in the Rewind Technique. This is a non-intrusive, safe and highly effective psychological method for detraumatising people, which can also be used for removing phobias.
I have a degree in Therapeutic Counselling and I am an Integrative Therapist, which means I use theories and techniques from Humanistic, CBT and Psychodynamic therapies, this allows me to be flexible in my approach and find the best way to help you.
Online therapy
Due to current situation in the U.K. I am also offering sessions via telephone or Skype.
