Sarah Louise | Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
Introduction
Hi there, I'm Sarah. I work online and in person in my private practice. I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where clients can explore and overcome challenges, deepen self-understanding, and create healthier ways of being and relating.
When working with individuals, I draw on both person-centred and integrative approaches, tailoring the work to each client’s unique needs.
This might mean focusing on self-esteem, anxiety, life transitions, or relationship patterns that feel difficult to shift. I am also equipped to work with stress, anxiety, trauma, loss, grief, divorce, confidence and self-esteem issues.
My aim is to help clients connect more compassionately with themselves, uncover what they truly need, and find practical, sustainable ways forward.
With couples, I work using Imago Relationship Therapy, a powerful model that helps partners move from conflict and disconnection into greater empathy, understanding, and intimacy. Through guided dialogue, couples learn how to really hear and be heard by one another, rebuild trust, and restore a sense of safety and connection in their relationship. Whether couples are looking to repair, strengthen, or simply better understand their dynamic, I support them in finding a more conscious and fulfilling way to relate.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and intentional - always centred on creating a secure space where change feels possible and meaningful.
If you feel ready to take the next step towards building a healthier relationship with yourself or with your partner, I invite you to get in touch - I’d be glad to support you.

Specialisations and Expertises
My approach is collaborative, compassionate and intentional, centred on creating a safe space where meaningful change can happen. Although I offer therapy that covers a wide range of subjects, my main area of expertise is working with individuals who have low self-worth, loss of identity, stress alongside working with problems caused by relating to others.
I am advanced in Relationship Therapy work supporting individuals and couples through relationship changes and breakdowns. So much can be discovered when exploring presenting issues. It is frequent that clients are unaware that their opinion of themselves are flawed. This can be the root cause to other problematic issues in their lives.
I do not allocate an amount of sessions for my clients. Sessions are not limited and often after exploration, other issues may arise that need to be addressed. At the end of each session I will ask if you would like to book in for a further session ensuring there is no pressure or feelings of obligation from you, the client.
If you feel ready to take the next step towards building a healthier relationship with yourself or with your partner, I’d be glad to support you. I am multi-location and work with individuals and couples online worldwide and in person in the UK.
Most common issues I support people with:
1. Anxiety and chronic overthinking
I work with many people who live in a constant state of “what if”. Their minds rarely switch off. Even when things are going well, there’s a background hum of worry.
Often, it’s not just anxiety about one thing.
It’s anxiety about letting people down. About making mistakes. About saying the wrong thing. About being seen. We spend a lot of time unpacking where this fear comes from – and more importantly, helping the nervous system feel safer, not just giving the mind something new to think.
Because anxiety isn’t only a thought problem.
It’s a safety problem.
2. Low self-worth and feeling “not enough”
I often work with people who carry a deep, quiet belief that they’re somehow failing at being human.
They might function brilliantly on the outside – at work, in relationships, socially – but internally they feel like they’re always just falling short.
When we work together, we don’t just focus on confidence.
We go deeper, into where that sense of unworthiness began, how it’s been reinforced over time, and how to gently challenge it without shame.
Because self-worth doesn’t grow through force.
It grows through understanding, compassion, and new emotional experiences.
3. Relationship difficulties and patterns
A lot of individual therapy is still about relationships - even when your partner or family isn’t in the room.
People often come to me frustrated that they keep attracting the same type of person, or ending up in the same painful dynamics in either romantic or interpersonal relationships over and over again.
In our work, we explore those patterns instead of shaming them.
We look at how they developed, what they were originally trying to protect, and what they’re still trying to achieve.
When someone understands their patterns, they stop feeling stuck alone with them.
And that’s where choice starts.
4. Trauma, loss and unresolved grief
Many people carry pain that they’ve learned to live around. Loss, trauma, neglect, or experiences that were never fully processed.
Often they tell me:
“I don’t even think about it that much anymore… I’ve just blocked it out.”
But emotional pain doesn’t disappear because it's ignored.
It just becomes quieter and deeper.
My role is to help people approach that pain safely, slowly, and with enough support so it doesn’t overwhelm them but finally gets the space it needed all along.
Healing doesn’t mean erasing the past.
It means changing how you carry it.
5. Identity, life transitions and feeling lost
A lot of people come to therapy during times of big change.
Break-ups.
Divorce.
Career shifts.
Becoming a parent.
Loss.
Sexual Identity.
Neurodivergence diagnosis.
Mid-life questioning.
They’ll often say,
“I don’t feel myself anymore or I don't how to work through this change”
And that’s not a failure - it’s a moment of redefinition.
In these phases, the work isn’t about telling someone who to be.
It’s about creating the space for them to rediscover themselves without pressure, without expectation, without needing to fit who they used to be.
Because sometimes therapy isn’t about fixing. It’s about finding and working together.
