Lucy | Integrative Counsellor

Counselling Chester

Hi, I'm Lucy and I know how daunting this first step feels. I’ve sat in the counselling chair myself - feeling like I had to have all the 'right' words prepared just to justify why I was there...

Let me reassure you, I'm not expecting you to have the right words - not at all in fact. My job is to help you feel safe and comfortable to share what's on your mind, however messy or disjointed it may sound to you once it comes out, I will help you make sense of it and help you walk away feeling lighter. I'm not here to 'fix' you (because you're not broken!). I'm here to allow you the space to explore, talk freely and honestly and to go at your own pace.

Overall I work integratively, which means I blend different forms of therapy (mainly person centred, psychodynamic and CBT) together, depending on what feels most helpful for you. We'll shape our sessions around what you need in a way that fits your aims, personality and where you are in your life.

Perhaps you're struggling with:

  • Overthinking & self-criticism

  • People-pleasing & setting boundaries

  • Going through a life transition that you didn't expect or feeling lost in your identity
  • Feeling emotionally disconnected or burnt-out

  • Internal loneliness despite 'looking fine' on the outside

  • Social anxiety and self-comparison

  • Low self-esteem and communicating your needs in a relationship

If so, my relatable and calming approach helps individuals just like you to feel at ease, to get un-stuck, reconnect with yourself and find a sense of confidence and contentment.

Registrations

I offer therapy in

Specialisations

  • Overthinking and catasophising patterns (we'll look at your core beliefs and how to re-wire these to interrupt and create new paths for a healthier way of seeing and feeling things)

  • Learning how to feel more content with the feeling of guilt everytime you set a boundary

  • Processing and healing from emotional responsibility overload - reclaiming your space after years of being the 'strong one' for everyone else

  • Figuring out who you are, beneath the 'helper' mode that you've become

  • Women's life transitions - from friendship losses, new jobs, motherhood, marriage and more

Most common issues I support people with:

  • Nervous system dsyregulation (feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from emotions, stuck, lost, anxious and more)
  • Feeling as though it's your responsibility to manage others emotions and actions, leaving you overwhelmed
  • Low self-esteem and self-trust, feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns because change and feeling out of control feels too dangerous
  • Wanting to live a life that feels more peaceful, fulfilling and aligned with you, rather than what you feel others want from you / want you to do

Invaluable support and guidance

I feel a lot more confident and comfortable in myself, before the sessions with Lucy I really struggled with self esteem - however the support and guidance Lucy has given me is invaluable

Therapy has helped me understand more about myself

The sessions have really helped me understand more about myself. I am now able to think more rationally and can't thank Lucy enough.
