Introduction
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious or worn down, or if life has become confusing in ways you never expected, you’re not alone. Many people reach a point where their mental health feels stretched — whether through ongoing stress, family issues, the weight of low self‑esteem, or the fog that can come with depression. Sometimes these experiences build quietly over time; sometimes they arrive suddenly and leave you feeling unsteady. You might be holding so much inside, trying to keep going, yet still feeling tangled, lost, or far from yourself.
Therapy can offer a gentle pause — a place where you can breathe a little more deeply and let your thoughts and feelings settle. There’s no pressure to explain everything at once or to find the “right” way to feel. We simply begin with whatever you’re carrying, including anxiety, sadness, confusion, or the impact of relationships, at a pace that feels safe for you.
My intention is to offer a warm, non‑judgemental space where you can soften, reflect, and be met with genuine care. Together, we’ll explore what supports you, what feels heavy, and what might need more understanding or compassion. Over time, this can help you feel more grounded, more connected to yourself, and more able to move through life with clarity, confidence, and choice.
Bereavement
Alongside general counselling, I have spent several years supporting people through grief and loss in all its forms, including my time working with Cruse Bereavement Support. This experience has given me a deep, compassionate understanding of how varied and personal grief can be - and how important it is to have a gentle, safe space to talk about it. For many people who are experiencing a loss that has already happened, one that is unfolding, or one that you sense is approaching. Grief can touch every part of life, often in ways that feel tender, disorienting, or difficult to put into words. Whatever your experience looks like, you don’t have to navigate it on your own.
You may be navigating:
- grief that began long before the loss itself
- a sudden or traumatic loss that has shaken your world
- experiencing separation anxiety
- feelings that come in waves or don’t seem to follow any clear pattern
- a loss that feels private, misunderstood, or difficult to put into words
Grief can touch every part of your life - your sense of who you are, your relationships, your routines, even your ability to feel grounded or safe. There is no “right” way to grieve, and no timeline you’re expected to follow.
In our work together, you’ll find a calm, compassionate space where your grief can be spoken about at your own pace. You won’t be rushed or judged. Instead, you’ll be supported to explore what this loss means for you, how it’s affecting you, and what you might need as you move forward.
Working With Carers
For several years, I’ve supported people in caring roles - those who give so much of themselves to look after someone they love. Caring can be meaningful and deeply human, but it can also be exhausting, lonely, and quietly overwhelming. Many carers find that, over time, their own needs slip into the background, and it becomes harder to recognise who they are outside of the caring role.
You may be noticing:
- growing anxiety or a constant sense of being “on alert”
- low self‑esteem or feeling as though you’re never doing enough
- a loss of identity, or a sense that you’ve disappeared into the role
- guilt for wanting space, rest, or support
- grief for the life you once had, or the one you hoped for
These feelings are far more common than people realise, and they deserve space, understanding, and care.
In our work together, you’ll find a gentle, safe place where you can talk openly about the emotional weight of caring - without judgement, pressure, or expectation. We can explore what you’ve been carrying, how it has shaped you, and what you might need to feel more grounded, supported, and connected to yourself again.
Further information
My Approach
My approach is calm, steady, and centred around you. I bring together different therapeutic approaches, but what matters most is that our work feels safe, gentle, and supportive for you.
I draw from:
- Person‑centred therapy - offering warmth, empathy, and a space where you can simply be yourself
- CBT - gently noticing patterns in your thoughts and behaviours, without pressure or judgement
- Schema‑informed work - exploring deeper emotional themes and unmet needs that may be shaping how you feel today
We move at a pace that feels right for you. Some sessions may feel spacious and reflective, giving you room to breathe and explore. Others may offer a little more structure or grounding if that feels helpful. There’s no rush and no expectation - just a steady, supportive space where you can bring whatever feels important.
The relationship we build together is at the heart of the work. My hope is that you feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to stay curious, and gently held as you explore the parts of yourself that may have been waiting quietly to be heard.
What to Expect
Your first session is simply a gentle beginning. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. We’ll talk about what’s brought you here, what you’re hoping for, and how we might work together in a way that feels safe and supportive.
Over time, therapy can help you:
- feel less overwhelmed and more grounded
- understand yourself with greater compassion
- untangle patterns that keep you stuck
- reconnect with your needs, values, and sense of self
- move toward changes that feel gentle and possible
My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you feel understood, supported, and able to breathe a little more easily - a place where you don’t have to hold everything on your own.
Online therapy
Online and Telephone Counselling
There are moments when reaching out for support feels important, yet getting to a therapy room simply isn’t possible. Life, health, caring responsibilities, or distance can all make in‑person sessions difficult.
To help you still access the steadiness and warmth you need, I offer counselling online or by telephone.
These options create a flexible, private space where you can talk openly from wherever you feel most comfortable-whether that’s your home, your car during a quiet moment, or a place that feels safe to you.
The heart of the work remains the same: a gentle, attuned space where you’re met with care, understanding, and room to breathe.

Specialisations and Expertises
Anxiety and Overwhelm
I support clients who feel constantly on edge, overstretched or unable to switch off. Together, we explore triggers, patterns and the stories the mind creates when life feels too much. Many people begin to feel steadier within 6–12 sessions, with some choosing longer‑term work for deeper change.
Self‑Esteem, Confidence and Self‑Trust
I help clients who feel unsure of themselves, disconnected from their strengths or caught in cycles of self‑criticism. Our work focuses on understanding where these patterns come from and building a kinder, more grounded relationship with yourself. Clients often notice meaningful shifts within 8–16 sessions, depending on the depth of the issue.
Bereavement and Grief
Grief can reshape life in ways that are overwhelming, confusing or quietly exhausting. I offer a gentle, steady space to explore loss at your own pace — whether recent or long‑standing. Some people find what they need in 6–10 sessions, while others choose open‑ended support as they navigate ongoing waves of grief.
Childhood Trauma and Early Experiences
Many adults carry the impact of early experiences into their present lives — sometimes clearly, sometimes in subtle, hard‑to‑name ways. I offer a safe, shame‑sensitive space to explore these wounds without pressure. This work is often deeper and may unfold over 20+ sessions, always at a pace that feels safe and empowering.
Depression and Low Mood
I support clients who feel stuck, flat or disconnected from themselves. Together, we explore the emotional, relational and practical layers of low mood, helping you find steadier ground and reconnect with what matters. Many clients begin to feel shifts within 8–12 sessions, with some choosing longer‑term support.
Carer Support
Caring for someone can be both meaningful and deeply draining. I offer carers a rare space to focus on themselves, express their own needs and rebuild balance and boundaries. Carers often benefit from short‑ to medium‑term work (6–12 sessions), though some choose ongoing support during demanding periods.
Family Issues
Family dynamics can be complex, painful or confusing. I help clients explore patterns, roles and emotional impacts in a way that feels safe and non‑judgemental. Depending on the situation, clients may find clarity within 6–12 sessions, or continue longer for deeper relational work.
Affairs and Separation
Affairs, break‑ups and separations can shake your sense of self and stability. I offer a calm, reflective space to process emotions, rebuild trust in yourself and find your footing again. Many clients benefit from 8–16 sessions, with flexibility depending on the intensity of the experience.
Adoption (Adults and Parents)
Adoption can bring many layered emotions — identity questions, belonging, grief, loyalty conflicts and the weight of unspoken stories. I support adopted adults and adoptive parents with sensitivity and respect for the depth of these experiences.
For parents, the transition from childhood to adulthood can feel especially complex. Letting go, trusting your young adult’s independence and navigating shifting roles can stir up fear, grief, pride and uncertainty all at once. I offer a calm, reflective space to explore these feelings, understand what’s being triggered and find steadier ways to stay connected while allowing your child to grow.
This work varies widely, with clients often engaging for 10–20+ sessions, depending on their needs, the pace that feels safe and the depth of the story they’re carrying.
Most common issues I support people with:
Anxiety and Overwhelm
I support many clients who feel stretched thin, unsettled or constantly “on alert.” In our sessions, I offer a calm, grounding space where you can slow down and understand what’s happening inside. Together, we explore triggers, patterns and the stories your mind creates when life feels too much. Over time, you can begin to feel steadier, clearer and more able to meet your days with a softer nervous system.
Self-Esteem- Confidence and Self‑Trust
I work with people who feel unsure of themselves, disconnected from their strengths or caught in cycles of self‑criticism. I help you understand where these patterns come from, meet yourself with compassion and reconnect with your own voice. Clients often describe feeling more rooted, more confident and more able to make choices that honour who they are and who they’re becoming.
Childhood Trauma and Early Experiences
Many adults carry the impact of childhood experiences into their present lives — sometimes clearly, sometimes in quieter, harder‑to‑name ways. I offer a gentle, steady space to explore these early wounds without pressure or fear of judgement. Together, we look at how old patterns show up today, soften the shame that often surrounds them and begin to build a more compassionate relationship with yourself. Healing unfolds at a pace that feels safe and empowering.
Life Changes, Transitions and Grief
Life shifts — in identity, relationships, work, caring roles or through loss — can leave you feeling unanchored or unsure of who you are now. I offer a reflective, spacious environment where you can pause, make sense of what has changed and explore the emotions that come with it. Whether the transition involves grief, uncertainty or a quiet sense of “not knowing,” I walk alongside you as you find clarity, resilience and a renewed sense of self.
Support for Carers
Caring for someone can be deeply meaningful and deeply exhausting. I understand the emotional weight of being the one who “keeps going,” even when there’s little space left for yourself. I offer carers a rare place to be heard, to express their own needs and to rebuild balance and boundaries. Clients often leave feeling lighter, more supported and more connected to their identity beyond the caring role.
