Graham | Psychotherapist, Counsellor & Coach
Introduction
My private psychotherapy practice has been established since 2008 where I work with people over the longer-term, in-depth psychotherapy, or shorter-term counselling depending on what you need. Clients come to me from a range of sources e.g. you may be offered counselling through your employer, a law firm or an insurance company. In addition, you may find me through my recognition with Aviva, Axa Health, Vitality Health or WPA. Alternatively, if you’re in a stepfamily situation you could find me through my membership of “StepIn ASAP”, where we all work with stepfamily members. In addition I also work as a Coach.
Some of my previous roles included working as a Young Person and Family Therapist for the Family Counselling Trust in Hampshire where I also sat on their Referral Panel. Earlier I worked as a Counsellor for students at two universities in Hampshire over 5 years, as a Counsellor at MIND and as a Bereavement Counsellor at a hospice. In much earlier career days I worked in a FTSE-100 retailer within HR in generalist and specialist roles, and my unique blend of skills, experience and training combine to provide a professional and warm service to my clients.

Most common issues I support people with:
Relationship counselling - Relationship issues can cover difficulties in relationships with children, with parents, in the workplace or with friends, but more frequently people seek counselling for difficulties in a personal intimate relationship.Family or couples therapy - The purpose is to help you better understand and support each other, to explore difficult thoughts and feelings safely, understand each other’s experiences and views and work together to make positive changes. For example, if you or someone in your family are stuck in repeating patterns of hurtful or harmful behaviour, then insight gained in family therapy can help make changes for the better.
Counselling for anxiety and panic attacks - Counselling for anxiety can help you get an understanding of its origins or underlying causes which can help you gain a new perspective on your situation, and thereby develop strategies for coping better with life.
Counselling for depression - Seeking counselling when you’re feeling depressed can help break the cycle of low mood because depression can feed on itself. Counselling can help you understand the triggers for how you’re feeling and enable you to start making positive steps in your life.
Bereavement counselling - Bereavement counselling can help you to express and talk through very difficult feelings, which could eventually lead to hope and finding meaning in life.
Walk & Talk therapy - Walk and Talk therapy offers an opportunity to walk side by side in a beautiful nature setting which can be very beneficial for teenagers, although I have found this is healing and supportive for people of all ages, where exploring nature helps facilitate a relaxed and open feeling in therapy. Walk and Talk therapy can be an occasional session, others may prefer this on a more regular basis.
