Claudine | Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
Introduction
Hi - I'm Claudine and I help people who are striving for a greater understanding of themselves and situations.
I am a professionally qualified psychotherapist offering therapy/counselling in London and Surrey. I work with clients on both a short and long term basis - I am a down to earth practitioner and offer a warm, compassionate and friendly reception.
I have been assisting clients who want to find answers for over 17 years - for some of my clients a psychotherapy session is where they are to work on a specific issue - for others it is to have a 'secure base' to navigate life from - whatever the reason is I can offer empathetic support and help and a genuine interest in getting to the root of the difficulties you may be experiencing.
I have had extensive experience in supporting clients to work through many different situations including chapters of depression, anxiety, anger, relationship difficulties, workplace issues, ocd, phobias, health anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, feeling sad and overwhelmed, experience of loss and grief, existential concerns, low self-esteem and feeling lost and lonely in life.
If you have recurring patterns of behaviour or thought that disable your enjoyment of life or feel that something isn't quite 'right', please get in touch to arrange a booking - I offer a free 30 minute telephone or zoom call for you to decide if I'm the right practitioner for you.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist I want to help you make sense of why you may be feeling depressed, anxious, sad, fearful and angry. We want to understand how the remote or recent past may have influenced your behaviour, attitude, and the choices you make in the present - thus perpetuating negative 'cycles' of experience. We work together in 'unpacking' past experience and in understanding how to become free of debillitating patterns that keep showing up.
Psychotherapy and counselling sessions offer us the opportunity to speak freely and without censorship. For some people, this is the first time that this has ever happened. In sharing their 'story', clients start to have an idea of what is giving rise to stubborn feeling that refuses to fade and can start to form clear goals to work on.
Session by session people begin to notice the way they think and act and implement new changes (thus laying down new neuronal pathways in the brain) The therapeutic alliance is vital in this respect and I hope I foster in my clients a realistic hope and enthusiasm for collaborative work towards real change. Psychotherapy isn't 'magic' but seeing such changes that occur in people who have experienced years of struggle still fills me with genuine awe.
A bit about me - before embarking on a vocation as a psychotherapist (and after gaining a professional acting diploma in London) I worked with children in a specialist children's home. I identified with some of the children's experiences there and began to write the psychological reports needed for the legal process involved. This deepened an interest in how childhood experience can remain hidden and unknown.
In undertaking my own extensive personal therapy, I can now offer lived experience in helping other people find their own epiphanies and answers - or to offer as one client described it - 'a game changer' in helping people to build the self-worth necessary for a healthy life.
I am happy to place a free call for up to 30 minutes duration or to arrange an initial consultation proper. I look forward to potentially working with you.
Online therapy
Please let me know which platform you would like to use - I tend to use 'zoom' but I am happy to send a 'teams' invitation (I send the link a few moments before we are due to commence each week)Some people like to take their appointments outside of their home (in their car or in the garden) I am happy to work in this way as long as clients are stationary and are not walking around. If our connection is broken for any reason, I will call you back on your mobile in order to have our session still. Please ensure that your environment is private and I ask that clients don't vape, smoke or eat during the session please.

* Working through existential concerns - loss of purpose and meaning, loss of direction in life, isolation and loneliness, insecurity and lack of self-worth, feelings of inauthenticity, feeling hopeless and demotivated, feeling stuck and trapped, exploration around questions of identity, exclusion, belonging in ones environment, unfulfilled potential.
* Sitting alonside clients experiencing bereavement - allowing a space that speaks of shock, intense grief, loss, guilt, denial, resentment or anger whilst having to co-ordinate still and fulfil the day to day challenges and obligations of life.
