Debbie | Psychotherapist and Counsellor
Psychotherapy and Counselling Norwich
Hello and welcome! My name is Debbie, and I am a dedicated psychotherapist and counsellor with a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and embrace personal growth.
My approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and a deep respect for each individual’s unique journey. I integrate a variety of therapeutic methods, tailoring our work together to suit your specific needs and goals. I aim to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can feel truly heard.
We all have unique backgrounds, life stories, and experiences, some that are very significant and that’s ok. Understanding that we cannot change what has happened, but we can change how we think about it, and how it makes us feel and react, helps us to move forward with our lives.
Working with me in a supportive space where your voice is important, a space where you will be heard, you can begin to make sense of your life and experiences. Whether you are facing stress, anxiety, corporate burnout, past trauma, struggling to break free from unhelpful ways of thinking and acting or just need someone to talk to, support is here is help you break free and move forward. I am here to listen and assist you in gaining self-awareness and insight. I aim to provide an empathetic and collaborative environment where your experiences and expertise are the focal point. My goal is to support you as you make sense of your world.
Therapy is a deeply personal journey, and what works for one individual may not work for another. It's not a one-size-fits-all solution, but rather a tailored experience designed to meet the unique needs and circumstances of each person seeking healing and growth. That is why I incorporate a range of therapeutic approaches, carefully tailored to address your unique needs. Together, we will explore into your thoughts and emotions, unveil fresh perspectives, and strive towards the goals that matter most to you.

Online therapy
I offer online counselling sessions through a secure platform called Telehealth which is GDPR compliant. Using this system there is no need for you to download any special software, you will receive a unique link for each session and you simply click on the link to join the your call with me.
To access telehealth you will need access to a quiet, private space where you will not be disturbed; and the appropriate device, i.e. smartphone, laptop, iPad, computer, with a camera, microphone and speakers; and a reliable internet connection. The privacy of any form of communication via the internet is potentially vulnerable and limited by the security of the technology used.
Limitations of Telehealth
There may be times when I may be subject to limitations such as an unstable network connection which may affect the quality of the session provided. In addition, there may be some services for which telehealth is not appropriate or effective. I will consider and discuss with you the appropriateness of ongoing telehealth sessions.

Specialisations and Expertises
Every person’s journey is unique, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to counselling. When you decide to begin therapy, we will meet at the same time and day each week. In our first few sessions, we will talk about what you would like to get out of therapy and set some goals. But if you are unsure, that is completely okay—we can explore your current challenges together and figure out the best way forward.
Therapy doesn’t have a fixed timeline, so we will find a rhythm that works for you. We can adjust things along the way, and you are always free to decide when to stop. I do recommend taking time to plan for the ending so we can reflect on your progress and make sure you feel ready to move forward. Ideally, we will dedicate at least two sessions to this, but it depends on how long we’ve worked together.
I want to make sure therapy feels right for you, every step of the way.
Most common issues I support people with:
Emotional Support and Relief
One of the primary benefits of counselling is the emotional support it provides. Life can be overwhelming, and sometimes we need a safe space to express our worries, fears, and frustrations. Counselling offers a non-judgmental environment where individuals can release emotional burdens, leading to a sense of relief and clarity.
Improved Self-Awareness and Understanding
Counselling helps people develop a deeper understanding of themselves—their emotions, behaviours, and patterns. Through guided conversations, individuals gain insight into past experiences, beliefs, and triggers, allowing them to make more conscious, informed decisions about their lives.
Increased Self-Esteem and Confidence
Low self-esteem can hold people back from opportunities and personal success. Counselling encourages self-acceptance and helps individuals build confidence in their abilities, allowing them to approach life with a stronger sense of self-worth.
Guidance Through Major Life Changes
Life transitions—whether starting a new job, dealing with loss, or navigating relationships—can be stressful and challenging. Counselling provides guidance and support during these changes, helping individuals adjust and thrive through uncertainty.
Mental Health Improvement
For those struggling with conditions such as anxiety, depression, or trauma, counselling offers essential therapeutic support. It helps individuals develop coping mechanisms, work through difficult emotions, and, in many cases, complement medical treatment.
