Buthiana | Humanistic Psychotherapist
Humanistic Psychotherapy Derby
Are you feeling emotionally exhausted from carrying everything on your own for so long?
Stress, trauma, and ongoing emotional pressure can leave you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. You may notice changes in your mood, difficulties within relationships, or a constant sense that you have to manage everything by yourself. Teenagers can experience this too, especially when facing school stress, family difficulties, identity concerns, or emotional pressure.
As a humanistic therapist, I offer a calm and supportive space where you can speak openly without fear of judgement. I work with adults and teenagers experiencing trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, childhood sexual abuse, domestic abuse, identity difficulties, and neurodiversity related challenges. I also support single mothers who feel emotionally drained by constant responsibility and pressure.
My aim is to help you better understand yourself, process difficult experiences, and develop healthier ways of coping while feeling more connected to who you are.
About Me
Hi, I’m Buthiana.
Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling emotionally drained, anxious, disconnected, or unsure how to express what they are carrying. Some have spent years coping alone while trying to hold everything together for the people around them.
I have experience working within services supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse and long term trauma. Through this work, I have seen how deeply emotional pain can affect confidence, relationships, and everyday life when experiences have been ignored, minimised, or carried in silence for a long time.
I also have experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and understand how difficult it can feel to navigate environments and expectations that may not always feel understanding or supportive. I aim to offer a space where you feel accepted without pressure to hide parts of yourself.
My training and personal development have strengthened my understanding of how important it is for therapy to feel safe, respectful, and genuine. I believe healing often begins when someone feels truly listened to and no longer has to face things alone.
How I Can Help
Together, we can:
- Explore difficult emotions and experiences safely
- Develop healthier ways of coping with stress and overwhelm
- Build confidence and emotional awareness
- Understand patterns within relationships and family dynamics
- Work through identity concerns and self esteem difficulties
- Support teenagers through emotional, social, and family challenges
My Approach
My approach is humanistic and trauma informed. I focus on your lived experiences, your emotions, and the meaning behind what you are going through, rather than seeing you as a problem that needs to be fixed.
I draw on person centred, Gestalt, and existential ideas while working gently and collaboratively at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My role is to offer support with honesty, compassion, patience, and care.
If you would like to know more or arrange an appointment, please feel free to get in touch using the contact form.
Online therapy
I offer both in person and online therapy sessions. Online therapy can provide flexibility and comfort if you prefer speaking from a familiar environment. In person sessions may feel more grounding if you prefer face to face support in the room. Whichever option you choose, my aim is to provide a calm, supportive, and non judgemental space where you can speak openly and explore what you are going through at your own pace.

Specialisations and Expertises
My work focuses on supporting people living with the impact of trauma, including childhood sexual abuse and domestic abuse. These experiences can affect many parts of life, including confidence, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and sense of self. I work with adults and teenagers, including single mothers managing significant emotional and practical responsibilities, and young people who feel overwhelmed by school, family pressures, or changes at home.
I also support clients experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, shame, low mood, relationship difficulties, and challenges expressing their feelings. Many of the people I work with have spent a long time coping quietly on their own or grew up feeling they had to stay strong for others. Therapy can provide space to slow down, explore these experiences safely, and begin to understand yourself more clearly.
I also have experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and autism. I understand how neurodivergence can affect emotional regulation, relationships, self esteem, sensory overwhelm, and the pressure many people feel to mask parts of themselves in order to fit in or cope.
My approach is humanistic and trauma informed. I focus on your lived experiences, emotions, and what matters most to you, rather than placing labels on your difficulties. We will work collaboratively and at a pace that feels comfortable for you, with attention to emotional safety, trust, and building a supportive therapeutic relationship.
Sessions are 50 minutes and available online or in person.
