Rosemary | Counsellor and Psychotherapist
Introduction
Hi, thanks for stopping by. I'm Rosie. I am a fully qualified, insured, and BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer a calm, steady therapeutic space where you don’t have to perform, please, or hold everything together. Instead, you can slow down, breathe, and feel less alone with what you’re carrying.
I work with clients facing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or the impact of addiction. Many clients have highly responsible jobs or caring roles and feel overwhelmed. In our first session we will begin to explore what issues have brought you to therapy and collaboratively plan a way forward.
My approach is person‑centred and trauma‑informed. I won’t diagnose you, direct you, or tell you what you “should” do. Instead, we’ll work collaboratively, gently and with compassion, following what feels important to you.
We’ll move at your pace, exploring your experiences without pressure or judgement. I won’t push you to talk about anything before you’re ready. Instead, we’ll explore your experiences at a pace that feels manageable, paying attention to what matters most to you. Over time, therapy can help you feel more settled, more connected to yourself, and more able to move through life with clarity and self‑understanding.
I offer face‑to‑face sessions for adults in Southport, as well as online and telephone sessions for adults across the UK.
Before beginning therapy, I offer a free initial 20 minute call so we can explore what brings you here and what you’re hoping for. There’s no pressure to commit, it’s simply a chance to get a feel for whether working together feels right.
Your first session is a chance to arrive exactly as you are. You don’t need to prepare anything or know where to begin. Many people come to their first session feeling a mix of relief, uncertainty, or worry about saying things out loud. All of that is welcome.
We’ll take things slowly. I’ll invite you to share whatever feels most present for you, perhaps what’s been feeling heavy, what’s been troubling you, or what’s brought you to this point. You might not have the words yet, and that’s completely okay. We can find them together.
Together we will focus on getting a sense of what life feels like for you right now, what you’re hoping for, and what you might need from therapy. This first session often sets the tone for our work: gentle, collaborative, and grounded in what matters most to you.
By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of whether the space feels right and whether you’d like to continue. There’s no pressure, just an opportunity to see how it feels to be supported, heard, and not alone with what you’re carrying.

Most common issues I support people with:
You may feel constantly on edge, stuck in cycles of worry, or weighed down by low mood. You might struggle with a harsh inner critic, second-guess yourself, or feel you’re never quite good enough.
Therapy can offer a space to slow things down, understand what’s been shaping these patterns, and begin to relate to yourself with more compassion.
You may find relationships with family, friends or colleagues, confusing, draining, or difficult to trust. Perhaps you’ve learned to take responsibility for others, to keep the peace, or to put your needs last.
In therapy, we can gently explore these structures and where they come from, supporting you to develop greater clarity, boundaries, and choice in how you relate to others.
I work with individuals in recovery who are abstinent and those affected by addiction.
You may have grown up around someone else’s drinking or drug use, or be living with the impact of a partner’s, parent’s, sibling’s, or friend’s addiction. This can leave people feeling anxious, hyper-alert, responsible for others, or unsure of their own needs.
Therapy provides the space to explore the impact of addiction, whatever your experience, alongside anything else you bring, without judgement, pressure or labels.
