Person-Centred Counselling Grimsby

When life feels overwhelming, heavy, or difficult to untangle alone, having a calm, understanding space can make a real difference.

Reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, especially when you're already carrying a lot. I offer a steady, supportive presence where you can talk freely, be heard and accepted, and begin to make sense of what you're experiencing at your own pace.

I offer therapy in Grimsby (DN32) and online across the UK, with flexible evening and weekend appointments to fit around busy lives.

Experience and Background
I'm a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and an Accredited Registrant with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.

My experience includes working within NHS Talking Therapies, supporting people experiencing anxiety, stress and depression. I’ve also supported unpaid carers and individuals navigating homelessness and bring a deep respect for the resilience people carry through difficult circumstances.

Through my work as a social prescriber, I’ve supported people living with long‑term health conditions and chronic pain, including fibromyalgia, diabetes and COPD, and understand how these experiences can affect emotional wellbeing.

Who I Support

I work with adults aged 18 and over.

People often come to counselling when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, lost, or unsure how to move forward.

You might be struggling with anxiety, self‑doubt, low self‑esteem, a life transition, grief or loss, or a sense that you’ve lost touch with who you are.

My Therapeutic Style

My style is warm, grounded and compassionate.

Alongside my person-centred foundation, I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which can help you relate differently to difficult thoughts and feelings while gently exploring what matters most to you and how you want to move forward.

I won’t rush you or push you into places you’re not ready to go. Instead, we’ll explore your experiences together with curiosity and care, creating space for clarity, self‑understanding and meaningful change.

In-Person Sessions in DN32

I offer 50-minute in-person sessions from a quiet, private space in the heart of Grimsby, easily accessible from Cleethorpes and surrounding areas in North East Lincolnshire.

It's a calm, grounding environment where you can step away from the noise of daily life and settle into a space that's just for you.

Online Therapy Across the UK

I also work online with clients anywhere in the UK, using secure video sessions that offer the same warmth and presence as being in the room together.

Online therapy can be especially helpful if you need flexibility around work, caring responsibilities, health, or mobility.

A Flexible Approach
I offer afternoon, early-evening and weekend appointments, with some flexibility where possible.

Sessions last 50 minutes and unfold at your pace. You don't need to prepare anything or arrive with the "right" words  - we simply begin wherever you are.

During our initial contact we can talk through what you're looking for, your preferred way of working, and any practical considerations that might help you feel comfortable.

Your Introductory Call
Before beginning therapy, I offer a free 15-30 minute introductory call by telephone or online.

This is a gentle, no-obligation space where you can share a little about what's bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether my way of working feels right for you.

There's no pressure to decide anything during the call - it's simply a chance for us to meet and see how it feels.

Your First Full Session
If you choose to go ahead, our first full 50-minute session will be slightly different from the sessions that follow.

We'll take time to go through the counselling agreement, confidentiality, payment, and any practical details that help you feel safe and informed. We'll also talk about what you're hoping for from therapy and what feels most important for us to focus on.

A Steady Start

You don't need to prepare anything in advance.

We can begin with a clear issue, a jumble of thoughts, or simply a sense that something in your life needs attention. My role is to offer a calm, grounded presence as we begin building a therapeutic relationship that feels safe and supportive.

An Invitation
If you'd like to begin, you’re welcome to get in touch via the send a message button. I’d be happy to hear from you.

Online therapy

I offer online sessions via Microsoft Teams, a secure and easy‑to‑use video platform. You don’t need any special equipment - just a phone, tablet or computer with a stable internet connection.

Before your session, I’ll send you a private link to join, and you can choose a quiet space where you feel able to talk openly.

Some people prefer online therapy because it removes travel time, allows them to create their own supportive environment, or simply feels less daunting than meeting face‑to‑face.

Whether you’re new to online therapy or already familiar with it, I’ll guide you through the process so it feels straightforward and supportive.

Specialisations and Expertises

I support people through a wide range of emotional experiences, including anxiety, low mood, grief, self‑esteem difficulties and the challenges that come with caring for others or navigating significant life changes.

Many of the people I work with describe feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, and together we explore what’s going on with compassion and at a pace that feels right for them.

Some people come for short‑term support over a handful of sessions, while others prefer longer‑term therapy to explore things more deeply. There’s no right or wrong - we can talk together about what you need and review this as we go.

Most common issues I support people with:

Anxiety and Overwhelm
I help people who feel constantly on edge, stuck in worry, or overwhelmed by the pace and pressure of life. Together we explore what’s beneath the anxiety and find ways to create more space, steadiness and self‑understanding.

Low Mood and Depression
Whether you’re feeling flat, disconnected, or struggling to find motivation, I offer a calm, compassionate space to explore what’s going on and gently reconnect with hope, meaning and direction.

Self‑Esteem and Self‑Confidence
Many people come to me feeling not “good enough,” overly self‑critical, or unsure of who they are. Our work can help you develop a kinder relationship with yourself and build confidence from the inside out.

Loss and Bereavement
Grief can feel isolating, confusing, or overwhelming - whether the loss is recent or something you’ve been carrying for a long time. I offer a steady, supportive space to make sense of your experience and move at a pace that feels right for you.

Life Transitions and Ongoing Challenges
Whether you’re navigating a change, a relationship shift, or the emotional toll of long‑term difficulties, I offer a grounded space to explore what you’re carrying and consider new possibilities.

Fees

I offer a free introductory call (telephone or Microsoft Teams) so you can ask questions and see whether I feel like the right fit for you.

Ongoing sessions are £45.00 for 50 minutes, held online or in‑person.

I offer a limited number of concessionary sessions.
