Person-Centred Counselling Grimsby
About Me and How I Work
Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, especially when life already feels heavy or confusing. You might be carrying anxiety, low mood, overwhelm, self‑doubt, or a sense that you’ve lost touch with who you are. Perhaps you’re navigating a life change, grieving a loss, or simply feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to face it alone.
I offer a warm, grounded and compassionate space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore your thoughts and feelings at your pace. My approach is rooted in the person‑centred ethos - a belief in your capacity for growth, clarity and self‑understanding when you’re met with genuine empathy and acceptance. Alongside this, I integrate principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), supporting you to relate to difficult thoughts and emotions with more openness and kindness, while gently reconnecting with what truly matters to you.
My Experience
I have experience supporting adults with anxiety, stress, low mood, depression, self‑esteem difficulties, chronic health conditions, caring responsibilities, trauma, and the emotional toll of living with ongoing challenges. My background includes working within NHS Talking Therapies, supporting unpaid carers, and working as a social prescriber with people living with chronic pain and long‑term health conditions. These experiences have deepened my respect for the resilience people hold, even in the most difficult circumstances.
What Therapy With Me Is Like
People often tell me they appreciate my calm presence and the sense of safety they feel in our sessions. I won’t rush you or push you into places you’re not ready to go. Instead, we work at your pace, exploring your inner world with curiosity and care. From there, we can begin to make sense of what you’re carrying, notice patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and create space for new possibilities to emerge.
Therapy with me is a collaborative process - a space where you can be fully yourself, without judgement or pressure. You don’t need to arrive with the “right” words or a clear plan. We begin exactly where you are, and together we explore what feels important, painful, confusing or hopeful.
How I Offer Therapy
You’re welcome to work with me in a way that suits your life. I offer in‑person sessions from a quiet, private space in Grimsby (DN32), as well as online therapy across the UK. Many people find online sessions helpful when balancing work, caring responsibilities, health or mobility needs. I also offer evening and weekend appointments to provide flexibility around busy schedules.
An Invitation
If you’re interested in the possibility of working with me or have any questions, you’re welcome to reach out via the send a message button. I’d be happy to hear from you.
Online therapy
Online therapy offers the same warmth, depth and support as in‑person sessions, with the added flexibility of being able to meet from wherever feels safe and comfortable for you. Many people find it helpful when balancing work, caring responsibilities, health needs or mobility challenges.
I offer online sessions via Microsoft Teams, a secure and easy‑to‑use video platform. You don’t need any special equipment - just a phone, tablet or computer with a stable internet connection. Before your session, I’ll send you a private link to join, and you can choose a quiet space where you feel able to talk openly.
Some people prefer online therapy because it removes travel time, allows them to create their own supportive environment, or simply feels less daunting than meeting face‑to‑face. Whether you’re new to online therapy or already familiar with it, I’ll guide you through the process so it feels straightforward and supportive.

Specialisations and Expertises
I support people through a wide range of emotional experiences, including anxiety, low mood, grief, self‑esteem difficulties and the challenges that come with caring for others or navigating significant life changes. Many of the people I work with describe feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, and together we explore what’s going on with compassion and at a pace that feels right for them.
My approach is rooted in person‑centred therapy, offering a warm, non‑judgemental space where you can feel heard and understood. I also draw from ACT‑informed principles, which can help you relate differently to difficult thoughts and feelings, reconnect with your values, and move toward what matters most in your life.
Some people come for short‑term support over a handful of sessions, while others prefer longer‑term therapy to explore things more deeply. There’s no right or wrong - we can talk together about what you need and review this as we go.
Most common issues I support people with:
Anxiety and Overwhelm
I help people who feel constantly on edge, stuck in worry, or overwhelmed by the pace and pressure of life. Together we explore what’s beneath the anxiety and find ways to create more space, steadiness and self‑understanding.
Low Mood and Depression
Whether you’re feeling flat, disconnected, or struggling to find motivation, I offer a calm, compassionate space to explore what’s going on and gently reconnect with hope, meaning and direction.
Self‑Esteem and Self‑Confidence
Many people come to me feeling not “good enough,” overly self‑critical, or unsure of who they are. Our work can help you develop a kinder relationship with yourself and build confidence from the inside out.
Loss and Bereavement
Grief can feel isolating, confusing, or overwhelming - whether the loss is recent or something you’ve been carrying for a long time. I offer a steady, supportive space to make sense of your experience and move at a pace that feels right for you.
Life Transitions and Ongoing Challenges
Whether you’re navigating a change, a relationship shift, or the emotional toll of long‑term difficulties, I offer a grounded space to explore what you’re carrying and consider new possibilities.
