Counselling Orpington

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to begin. Whatever has brought you here, please know you’re not alone.

I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can feel safe, heard, and accepted – just as you are. Whether you're feeling anxious about reaching out, unsure what to expect, or just need a gentle place to begin, I understand.

I work with adults and teenagers aged 16 and over, supporting people through a wide range of challenges. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, feeling overwhelmed, navigating relationship difficulties, or going through a big life change, we can explore it together, at your pace.

My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and tailored to you. I work integratively, meaning I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches depending on what is most helpful for your unique situation. We can explore what’s going on for you right now, and look at how your past – including early relationships – might still be shaping how you feel, think, and relate to others today. Understanding ourselves more deeply can open the door to real and lasting change.

I have specialist training in loss and bereavement, and a deep understanding of how many different forms loss can take. This can include the death of someone close, the loss of a much-loved pet, a relationship ending, changes in health, retirement, identity shifts, or a sense of something missing. Grief can be complicated, unexpected, and show up in surprising ways – even around life events others might see as “positive.” Whatever you’re experiencing, I offer a space to explore it with care and kindness.

I have a special interest in the connection between our physical and emotional wellbeing. If you’re living with a long-term health condition, adjusting to a diagnosis, or caring for and/or supporting someone else, we can work together to make sense of what that means for you emotionally and practically.

Whether you're looking for short-term or longer-term therapy, we will review regularly to make sure you feel supported, comfortable, and that our sessions are working well for you.

My practice is based at my home in Orpington. The therapy room is private and on the ground floor, with parking available right outside and a bus stop nearby.

Specialisations and Expertises

Anxiety - Counselling offers a safe space to explore the root causes of your anxiety and learn tools to manage overwhelming thoughts. Together, we’ll work on calming your nervous system and building confidence in handling daily challenges.

Depression - In our sessions, you'll gain support in understanding the emotional weight you’re carrying and find ways to reconnect with hope and motivation. I’ll help you uncover strengths and develop strategies for feeling more in control of your life.

Stress - Together we’ll identify the sources of your stress and find practical ways to reduce its impact. You’ll learn healthy coping mechanisms and create balance in your life, so you can feel more grounded and resilient.

Loss and Bereavement - I have specialist training in loss and bereavement, and understand how devastating it can be. It ts imapct can be felt in every area of our lives.Sometimes only a few sessions are needed to make sense of what has happened, but more often 10 sessions give the opportunity to explore the ways life has changed and to navigate the way forward. We will always review how you are feeling to ensure you are getting what you need from your sessions.

Relationships - Whether you are experiencing difficulties in your relationship with your partner, your family, your friendships, work colleagues, or struggle to form relationships, counselling can help. By understanding what you look for in your relationships you can discover how to develop more fulfilling and enduring connections.

Life Changes - Life can sometimes take an unexpecte turn which can be unsettling and confusing. Even changes that we have chosen sometimes bring mixed feelings, and sometimes it can be hard to share that with those close to us. Counselling can provide a safe space for you to explore these feelings without any judgement.

Men's Counselling - It can be hard opening up and sharing how you feel, especially if you have always felt you had to 'just get on with it' or believed 'counselling isn't for me'. The privacy, confidentiality and safety of the counselling space provides the opportunity to share your feelings without any judgement. There's no pressure to have the right words.

Whether you’re dealing with pressure, anger, loneliness, or just feeling stuck, we’ll work together at your pace to find clarity, build emotional strength, and learn how to deal with life’s challenges in a way that works for you.

Self-confidence - If you often doubt yourself, feel not good enough, or struggle to believe in your worth, you’re not alone. Counselling can help you understand where those feelings come from and gently challenge the inner critic that holds you back.
Together, we’ll work on building a stronger, kinder relationship with yourself—so you can feel more confident, set boundaries, and show up in your life with greater ease and authenticity.

Caring for others - Caring for someone over the long term can bring love and purpose, but it can also come with exhaustion, loneliness, and grief—both anticipatory and ongoing.

In counselling, you’ll have space to talk freely about the emotional ups and downs of caregiving without judgment or pressure to stay strong all the time.

Whether you're navigating burnout, struggling to balance your own needs, or coping with the slow loss of someone you love, we’ll work together to help you feel supported, seen, and emotionally resourced.
You don’t have to carry it all alone.

Teen issues (16+) - It’s totally normal to feel unsure of yourself sometimes—especially with all the pressure to fit in, keep up, or have it all figured out.

Counselling gives you a safe space to talk about what’s going on inside, without judgment. Together, we’ll work on building self-confidence, handling negative thoughts, and helping you feel more comfortable being you—whether that’s at school, online, with friends, or at home.

Most common issues I support people with:

Loss and Bereavement - death of someone close or a beloved pet. Sometimes the loss of someone we didn't know that well (eg. a celebrity or an estranged friend or relative) can leave feelings that are hard to make sense of. An unexpected or unwanted change in lifestyle, health, finances, etc can result in a loss of identity or sense of self. Sometimes a 'happy event' can bring changes that bring mixed feelings, made even harder when others don't understand.

Anxiety and/ or Depression - often the two go hand in hand when not addressed. Together we can explore the deeper feelings and help find relief.

Self-confidence - feelings of never 'good enough' can stop us from fulfilling our potential, lead to procrastination and indecision.

Relationships - romantic, family, workplace, friendships. I use the Imago Relationship Therapy Dialogue to improve communication and deepen connection in relationships. Exploring what we look for in our relationships and understanding our unmet needs can help to reduce blame and increase empathy.

Fees

Fees are £55 per 50 minute session for both in-person and online counselling.
