Counselling Chelmsford

You have done well to get this far, now reach out and contact a counsellor. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness - it is a sign of strength. A sign that means you have the courage to try and change.

As a counsellor I offer a safe, non critical and welcoming place to my clients. I offer a counselling space where clients can be just what they need to be. Sometimes during sessions clients are in tears or perhaps full of anger. Both of which are okay.

Previous clients issues range from depression, stress, anxiety, grief, trauma to addiction, relationship break up and parental alienation. The therapy I offer accomodates all of these issues, indeed clients who have been seen by me have been able to experience real and positive change.

I do not have a magic wand with which to solve issues but by providing a safe and non critical space clients are then able to be heard and accepted. Clients are often seeking solutions and in session we seek out the solutions to their issues, should they want to and when they feel able to.

I have 2 premises which I use for counselling. One is reached via 3 flights of stairs so not readilly accessable for clients who have mobility difficulties. This premise is adjacent to a fee paying car park.
The other premise is fully wheelchair accessable.

One premise is in central Chelmsford and easily accessible by train, bus and car. The other is approximately 20 minutes walk from central Chelmsford and is on a bus route. This premise has free on site parking.|

If you would like to know more or book an appointment, please send me a message.

Online therapy

When offering online therapy sessions I use Zoom.
Zoom is end to end crypted and thus very secure, it means confidentiality of session content is assured.
Usually I send a client a Zoom invite just before the session is due to start.

A couple of things are different with online counselling. For example I will need an emergency contact telephone number in case the worst happens. I will also need to know your location.

It is important that you attend a session from a place where you are not going to be interrupted or overheard.

Specialisations

My counselling does not have any specialisations - this follows from my belief that effective counselling is a sure way of addressing any issues a client has.

I do have Trauma Certification as counsellors dealing with past or present Trauma need specific skills and techniques in order to safely serve the client.

Client work around suicide (their own intentions or the effects of others having suicided) is something I have experienced.

Most common issues I support people with:

Anxiety - anxiety about the world or specific events. Personal anxiety perhaps about looks, self worth, social and familial interactions/roles.

Stress - whether caused by work, family or other causes. I have methods I offer to deal with stress as well as a willingness to look at different ways clients can change there life in order to better deal with stress and stressors.

Depression - acceptance of the depression and exploring the causes, looking at how the client would want to change the way they experience life.

Addiction - however the addiction is experienced (drugs, alcohol, food, gambling,sex/porn, shopping, hoarding) we look at what purpose it serves and how to address the issue in a way that makes the addiction unnecessary

Seperation/Parental Alienation/Domestic Violence/Abuse - I have experience with clients experiencing female and  male domestic violence and abuse. This is partly due to the work I do with a charity specificallly for F on M domestic abuse. The abuse is often experienced when going through a relationship breakdown and for either parent to experience alienation from their children is difficult to deal with. This work is not limited to domestic violence, it includes relationship breakdown as well.

Presently sessions are 50 minutes long for which I charge £60.
