Counselling Bacup

Hi,

I am a friendly, warm and down to earth counsellor who will greet you with a warm smile and a relaxing environment.  I believe in creating a safe and accepting space where you can speak freely without any judgement to feel heard and to talk about what brings you to counselling through exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I will be alongside you every step of the way.

There are times in your life, whether you are an adult or young person that you feel life can be so unfair and challenging at times and that you may need to talk to someone without the fear of judgement.

Do you ever get that sinking feeling, that life doesn't seem to get any easier or you are stood at a crossroads in your life and don’t know which path to take?  Are you feeling alone, overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted with changes in your life? Maybe you are experiencing anxiety, low mood or depression and not sure who to ask for help? Would you like to improve your personal or professional relationships? Are you having negative thoughts about yourself which is impacting your self-esteem or perhaps you feel worthlessdistressed, stressed, angry or confused and not know the reason why?

Sometimes family and friends are enough to help you through difficult times however very often, talking to someone who isn’t emotionally involved about what you are experiencing can help you to understand your innermost feelings, explore the issues you are facing, give you the time to process what is happening in a safe and trusting space and ultimately support you to move forward in your life.  I know it may feel very daunting to be here right now to acknowledge that you may need some help.  I am right here to make the process as comfortable as possible for you and most importantly go at your pace.

I use a Person-Centred approach which means I put emphasis on you being at the centre of the counselling process.  One of the most important factors is the strength of our relationship as we work together to explore what is happening in your life.  Together we can build a warm, safe and trustworthy relationship.

I enjoy bringing a creative approach to counselling alongside talking, when appropriate. Creative techniques can be really useful not only for young people but also adults.  These techniques can help you to process emotions and experiences and see things in a different way that you may have never thought of before.  I tailor my approach to you but do understand you may not want to use creative approaches which is completely fine, if you feel uncomfortable with this.

Whether you are seeking counselling for yourself or your child for the first time or have tried it before, I completely understand it can feel very overwhelming to think about getting in touch and most importantly find the right person for you or your child.  I never underestimate the courage it takes to make the first step to reach out for support as I have been there too.

If you would like to book in a session with me the first step is for you to get in contact with me to see how we might work together.
