Specialisations

I have experience of working with clients with a range of presenting issues, such anxiety, depression, loneliness, low self-esteem, loss of confidence, relationship and family issues, work related changes and challenges. I have specific experience of working with bereavement. I have offered support to clients at various stages of grief.

I am also deeply committed to supporting individuals coping with the loss of their beloved animal companions or dealing with anticipatory grief after a diagnosis. In addition to my counselling approach, I am available to address any specific questions or concerns you may have. I am a registered Association of Pet Bereavement Counsellors member and adhere to their ethical framework.

Most common issues I support people with:

Anxiety, sadness, depression: Challenges with relationships (personal, family, friendships), retirement, changes at work etc... can cause us to experience some or of all of these feelings and emotions. You may be able to identify the source and equally you may not be able to. There may be a combination of different things happening in your life. Within our sessions we can explore these and bring into your awareness why you are feeling this way and help you to find solutions.

Loneliness:
You may have been lonely for a long time or you may suddenly find yourself alone - whatever the reason, being alone can be challenging and can affect anyone, at anytime, and at any stage of life. Sometimes we can be surrounded by others or be in a relationship and still feel alone.  Together we can look at why you feel alone, how can you change it and what will work for you.

Bereavement:
The loss of a significant person in your life is profound. We experience so many emotions and feelings and each day can be very different  to the next. Often we may not understand if what we are feeling is normal. It is an event we will all experience at some point.  I can help support you during this time.  I also offer support to you if you have lost your companion animal, a loss that many can feel they need to keep silent, to carry the grief alone. You might have specific questions you want to ask surround the loss or anticipated loss of your animal, and alongside my counselling approach I can help with the answers you may need.

Self esteem and loss of confidence:
A range of factors may influence how we see ourselves and this can happen at any stage of our lives. We can 'lose' ourselves, and you may be struggling to find who you are again.
