Yulia | Psychotherapist, Counsellor

Introduction

I am a trauma-informed psychodynamic psychotherapist working with young adults and adults who feel overwhelmed, unseen, or stuck in repetitive patterns, and who may feel hurt or worried about their relationships and future. You may appear to be coping on the outside, keeping up with daily life, while internally carrying stress, anxiety, or a sense that something doesn’t feel quite right.

This can feel exhausting, especially when there is a strong desire to get rid of symptoms and wake up feeling “normal",  lighter, or more like yourself again. While easing distress is important, our work together won’t stop there. We will take time to understand what lies beneath your difficulties and how your experiences, relationships, and inner world have shaped the way you feel, behave, and relate to others today. Through this deeper work and understanding, we can move toward lasting, meaningful change in yourself, your relationships, and your life.

Alongside my clinical training and my work across a range of settings, including suicide prevention charities and higher education, my approach has been shaped by lived experience. I have spent many years navigating cultural transitions, identity shifts, and the emotional impact of starting again. Before becoming a therapist, I worked closely with women experiencing changes in their appearance, including hair loss, weight changes, and menopause. This experience continues to inform my understanding of identity, self-image, and the emotional impact of how we feel in our bodies.

I believe that therapy should be tailored to the client’s specific needs, personality, cultural background and goals. Our work will move at a pace that feels right for you. Over time, therapy can help you develop greater self-awareness, improve your relationships, and find more authentic ways of living, while feeling more able to navigate difficult emotions. You don’t need to have everything figured out before getting in touch. We can start with a conversation and see whether working together feels like the right fit.

Online therapy

I have extensive experience working with clients across the UK and worldwide in an online setting. Online therapy offers a flexible and accessible way to engage in a meaningful therapeutic process, particularly when it can be difficult to find the time to travel or attend in person.

Sessions take place via Google Meet in a confidential and secure setting, at a regular weekly time. While the format is different, the core of the work remains the same. I aim to create a thoughtful, relational space where we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in depth.

Online therapy can be just as impactful and transformative as in-person work.

Qualifications and registrations

I am a BACP-registered psychodynamic psychotherapist, holding an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck, University of London. Over the past six years, I have worked across a range of settings, including suicide prevention charities and within Higher Education and the mental health sector. I have completed additional professional training in working with suicidal ideation, self-harm and survivors of relational trauma.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I work extensively with artists and creative individuals, as well as people going through significant life transitions: immigration, career changes, endings, loss, and questions of identity.

Specialisations and Expertises

I work extensively with creatives and artists, as well as with people navigating significant life transitions, such as moving countries, changing careers, ending a relationship, or stepping out of university into adult life.

I also have experience working with clients who self-harm or experience suicidal thoughts, where it can feel difficult to put words to what is happening inside.

My aim is to offer a space where these experiences can be thought about and understood, rather than faced alone.

Fees

My fee ranges between £50 and £70 per session, depending on whether sessions take place online or in person. I understand that therapy is an investment, and I am committed to finding a fee that works for you.

I currently offer discounted rates for students, and I have some concession-rate spaces.

I offer individual therapy sessions in person at my private practice in central London, as well as online via Google Meet or telephone. Sessions last 50 minutes, and I also offer a free 25-minute introductory consultation. This is an opportunity to ask any questions and get a sense of whether working together feels right.
