Tanya | Counsellor

Counselling Weston super mare

I offer in-person and online counselling to adults. My counselling practice, based in Weston-super-Mare, specialises in helping clients impacted by Challenging Relationship Dynamics, Trauma and Gender-Based Aggression or Harm. I also help clients who need support for grief, anxiety, low mood/depression, difficult life changes or transitions and other challenges.

Challenging Relationship Dynamics can cover issues such as communication difficulties, trust issues, power imbalances, people pleasing, recurring patterns, boundary setting, control, co-dependency or relationship burnout.

Experiences of Trauma can come in many forms, but can cover issues such as childhood trauma, grief and loss, single event trauma, domestic or family violence and physical, emotional or sexual abuse.

Gender-Based Aggression or Harm can cover issues such as discrimination, coercion, sexual harassment, sexual violence, sexism, emotional abuse, everyday aggressions, harmful gender role expectations and gender oppression.

Many of these experiences and challenges may also be linked to feelings of anxiety or depression.

If you are considering counselling in Weston-super-Mare or online to help you with any of these issues or something else, I can offer you:

• A collaborative therapeutic relationship that helps you move towards healing, change, growth and empowerment.

• A safe and confidential space to talk about your experiences at your pace.

• Empathic listening and validation of your experiences without judgment.

• Support to understand patterns and dynamics in your relationships.

• Support in developing healthier boundaries and communication skills.

• Help to process traumatic memories safely and at a pace that feels right for you.

• Exploration of your values, needs and identity in relationships and life.

• Support to rebuild self-esteem and trust in yourself and others.

• A space to explore and challenge internalised beliefs shaped by trauma or gender expectations.

• A compassionate and trauma-informed approach tailored to your unique situation.

My Counselling Modality.

I offer a person-centred, integrative counselling approach and draw upon a number of therapeutic modalities to address your specific needs. Every individual is unique, as are their experiences and challenges; therefore, counselling sessions are tailored to you.

First counselling Session.
Our first session will allow you to discuss your needs and consider if you think I am the right counsellor for you. I will also be able to find out more about you and tell you more about the counselling process during this session. Counselling sessions can be either online or in person at my office in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset.

Please feel free to get in touch if you would more information or to arrange an appointment for a first counselling session.

Online therapy

I am aware that clients may prefer online counselling for many reasons. You may appreciate the convenience that online counselling provides, or you may need to access counselling online because of illness, inability to travel, disability or anxiety. I will provide the same counselling service whether we are online or in person.

I offer online counselling via Zoom video/voice call or via telephone to clients throughout the UK. You can use a mobile device, a laptop, or a computer to access online counselling. All you need is a private, quiet room to take the call. If you choose to access counselling online I will send you a Zoom link for the session in advance via email.

Specialisations and Expertises

Counselling provides a safe, confidential, and supportive space to help clients manage personal, emotional, psychological, and social issues.

The therapeutic relationship facilitates the exploration of feelings, thoughts, and behaviours to help clients understand and resolve problems. Professionally qualified counsellors, such as myself, provide a supportive and confidential environment which allows clients to discuss their concerns openly without fear of judgment. Through the collaborative counselling process, clients come to understand themselves better, overcome challenges, and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Counselling can be short-term, focusing on specific issues and goals, or long-term, providing ongoing support for more complex or deep-seated issues.
