Gary | Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor

Introduction

Hiya, I'm Gary, How are things with you today?

Welcome to my profile I am pleased you spotted something that encouraged you to stop at my profile. With so much choice I am honoured that you found my page.

Feel free to take a closer look and see that we can be the perfect connection that empowers you to achieve freeing yourself of those things that have or are burdening your life. - How best can I be of service to you?

I hope you find the help and assistance you require today, either from myself or one of my colleagues.

How I Can Help

I am a qualified psychotherapist with many years of clinical experience supporting non-vulnerable over 18 year olds. I offer both online (via video platform) and face-to-face (F2F) therapy.

Over the years I have developed extensive knowledge and experience working with a variety of issues such as trauma, stress, anxiety, confidence, and self-esteem, sexual issues including porn addictions, disordered thinking.

I believe that a person has the ability, capacity and know-how to change the way they see themselves, a more positive shift in the perception of themselves can profoundly influence how they experience the complications of life.

We may feel like we have the right to think about ourselves in whatever way we wish and in part this is true. However, many of us become so harsh, critical and judgmental toward ourselves that our self view turns severely negative.

This becomes a significant obstacle to any harmony in life or state of mind. This distortion muddles our perception of ourselves, it confuses our ability to recognise our own strengths and achievements.

To assist as you/we investigate where these negative thoughts and beliefs possibly came from, how they developed, and whether they are truly accurate or even helpful for you today.

To make it perfectly clear, I do not view myself as any kind of “expert”, not on you or how your brain works, not for life or how to live a better one, basically I have no real expertise about anything for that matter, I know what I know and I have learnt or gained experience along the way.

Therefore I view my role as being more of your support, both for the emotional stuff as well as guidance for the search, maybe I can offer you that different or other perspective. All these things I provide whilst we would be working together. Myself alongside you, side by side neither in front nor behind.

I wish I could claim to have a magic formula for a perfect life but I don’t, what I have is a supportive, non-judgmental, and safe confidential space where you can speak honestly, openly and explicitly allowing you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.

My ‘technique’ is to encourage thoughtful discussions, some gentle (or maybe sometimes a little more challenging) questioning especially about any distorted perspectives and views, but most importantly by encouraging you to be compassionate, forgiving, loving and trusting to yourself.

Life is already challenging enough. Perhaps we can work together to make it a little less difficult—and create a healthier, happier, more supportive and loving relationship with yourself.

Let’s see what we can do for your future self.

A little more personal detail.

I am over the age of 50, I work from home because as well as being a counselling psychotherapist. I am also the main carer to my elderly mother, who lives with me.

Becoming a main carer forced me to bring my private practice into my home, where I am very often accompanied by Scruff, my Yorkshire Terrier crossbreed, who thinks himself as a therapy dog but mainly just falls asleep in his bed or on the sofa.

Thank you for taking this precious and lengthy time out of your busy day reading this profile, I hope it answers some questions but please feel free to ask anything else that wish, all without any obligation.

Online therapy

Online therapy would ideally include you and I in a safe, comfortable and most importantly confidential space. I can assure you that nothing can be heard outside of my therapy room but everyones opinion of what confidentiality means for them is different and as long as you are happy in the space you are in then that works for me even though I would still ask, just to confirm.

I use the video platform is called Whereby, which has been certificated as being completely confidential.

Most common issues I support people with:

Trauma, all forms of trauma :- I like to work with trauma because experience has regularly shown me, through working with my clients, that everyone has experienced some kind of trauma at some point in their life. People have the view that something severly significant must have happened for them to say thay were traumatised.

Anxiety :- The definition of anxiety is to be afraid of something in the future, this can be based upon elements or experience that the client has been exposed to in the past.

Stress :- What is so important about todays situation? What would be the problem if something doesn't go as well as one would want it to go? Stress can help us to achieve but it can also be a massive hinderance to our lives.

LGBT supporter :- Here for help, support, advise whatever you have going on or need help with.

Sexual Issues :- Do you have something going on that you are struggling to talk about, most things are worth investigating and a clear, calm and supportive discussion may provide some relief to your problems.
