Aileen | Family Psychotherapist and Person-Centred Counsellor

Introduction

Introduction
Hello and welcome. I'm Aileen, an experienced UKCP registered family psychotherapist working with individuals, couples and families. I offer sessions both in-person in Ayr and online across the UK.

Therapy
Every individual, everycouple, every family has a story. Some stories are voiced aloud like the ones we tell about who we are.  While other stories remain unspoken. Sometimes when we feel stuck or overwhelmed, it is really a story sitting unheard.

I work creatively and collaboratively to make room for those unheard stories. Helping people hear them, understand and make sense of them. Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting. I aim to make that step as comfortable as possible, going at your pace.

Benefits

Life often involves challenges and we all experience difficulties at times. People come to therapy for different reasons.  Perhaps your ways of coping are no longer working - feeling lost and unsure of what to say or do.  You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, going through life events or your connections with others feels strained.

Counselling and psychotherapy helps you to speak and feel heard, to better understand what is troubling you and why. Through conversation, together we explore, reflect and make sense of your thoughts and feelings. This allows you to discover new insights and opportunties, to build on your strengths and make positive changes in your life.

Why choose me?
Listening with curiosity and empathy, I am a good communicator whether reflecting back what I hear or sharing perspective. Everyone is unique. I work creatively to meet your specific needs, helping you make sense of thoughts and emotions that may be getting in the way of you feeling your best.

What to expect
If you feel therapy could benefit you, please message me about initial sessions. Meeting for the first time is an opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy, what your hopes are. Sessions move at your pace, offering a safe and reflective space to explore experiences, to find new ways of thinking and putting you at the heart of every conversation.
