Alison | Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

Counselling and Hypnotherapy Paisley

Hi, I’m Alison, a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Hypnotherapist offering compassionate, trauma-informed therapy. I work with adults both online across the UK and in-person from my peaceful practice in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, the effects of trauma, or living with a long-term health condition, I offer a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can begin to make sense of your experiences and move toward lasting, meaningful change.

I’m genuinely inspired by walking alongside people as they face life’s challenges, and I deeply value the trust placed in me as a therapist. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, always tailored to your individual needs and goals. My integrative and person-centred approach means our work together is guided by what matters most to you—helping you feel heard, empowered, and supported every step of the way.

For those interested in hypnotherapy, this can be a powerful and transformative process. Hypnotherapy can help uncover and gently shift limiting beliefs, patterns, or behaviours that may be holding you back. Many clients describe it as a liberating experience—one that allows them to move forward with greater freedom, confidence, and a renewed sense of self.

Whether you're ready to take that first step or simply curious about how therapy or hypnotherapy might help, I’m here to listen. Together, we can begin your journey toward healing and positive change. I offer flexible availability for face-to-face sessions, online video calls, or email therapy.

I welcome working with clients from Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow and the surrounding areas, from my safe, comfortable and relaxing home office or online. Offering a variety of settings to help support you to move forwards and make those positive changes in your life. However we work together, my aim is to support you in achieving meaningful progress—one step at a time.

Online therapy

I offer online therapy to adults across the UK, providing a safe, confidential, and supportive space -wherever you are.

Whether you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low in self-worth, or living with the impact of trauma or long-term health conditions, online therapy can offer the same depth of connection, insight, and emotional support as in-person sessions. From the comfort of your own space, we can begin to explore what’s going on for you, at a pace that feels right.

I’m inspired by working alongside others to overcome life’s challenges. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey—one where you’re gently supported to reconnect with your strengths and move toward greater well-being. I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy, tailored to your needs and personal goals. My integrative, person-centred approach ensures that your voice is at the heart of our work together.

I currently offer flexible availability for online video sessions or email therapy. However we work together, my aim is to support you in creating lasting, meaningful change—one step at a time.

Most common issues I support people with:

1. Anxiety and Overwhelm

Anxiety can show up in many forms—racing thoughts, constant worry, physical tension, or a sense of dread. I help clients understand the root of their anxiety and develop grounding tools and coping strategies to manage it more effectively. Together, we work to reduce the impact anxiety has on your daily life and move towards a calmer, more balanced state of mind.

2. Low Self-Esteem and Confidence

Struggling with low self-worth can affect every area of your life, from relationships to career decisions. In therapy, we explore the inner critic, past experiences, and the stories you tell yourself. My approach focuses on building self-compassion, reconnecting with your strengths, and helping you feel more confident and capable in who you are.

3. Trauma and Abuse (including Childhood and Sexual Trauma)

Experiences of trauma—especially those rooted in early life or involving abuse—can leave lasting emotional and psychological wounds. I work in a trauma-informed way, offering a gentle, safe, and respectful space where you can process your story at your own pace. Therapy can help make sense of your experiences and support your healing and empowerment.

4. Long-Term Health Conditions (such as Long Covid, ME, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)

Living with a chronic illness can be emotionally exhausting. It often brings grief for what’s been lost, frustration, isolation, and a range of mental health challenges. I offer support that acknowledges both the physical and emotional impact of these conditions, helping you navigate your experience with more resilience, understanding, and self-care.

5. Stress and Burnout (Work, Study, and Life Pressures)

Modern life can feel relentless, especially when trying to balance work, studies, caring responsibilities, and personal expectations. I help clients identify sources of stress and understand how it’s affecting them mentally and physically. Therapy offers space to breathe, reassess priorities, and find sustainable ways to restore balance and well-being.
