Angela | Counsellor

Counselling Chester Le Street

Hi I'm Angela, an expereinced BACP accredited counsellor and a CBT practitioner. Starting therapy can be daunting but be reassured, I am caring and non judgemental . I work with a wide range of issues, working with people as people not as a list of issues. I'm passionate about improving mental health so I integrate different approaches as required to best meet the needs of each individual client. My specialities are trauma, anger management and depression but work with many more issues too. Get in touch for an informal chat.

I am an experienced fully insured accredited counsellor who abides by the BACP ethical framework and I am ICO registered.  That all sounds very formal, so in short I am an ex nurse and as a counsellor I have many years  experience working within GP services, the NHS IAPT service and a specialist sexual violence service.

I have taught counselling up to and including degree level and I am also a counselling supervisor.

If you would like to know more or book an appointment, please send me a message via the send a message - button.

Online therapy

I offer remote therapy both by video calls and telephone. This gives you the flexibility to have sessions at a time and place to suit you and incurs you less travel costs.

Video calls are via the Google meet platform, which means you would get a link in an email on the morning of your session, you just click the link and follow the instructions. It is very straightforward.

The Google meet platform also offers the opportunity for captions to be used, helpful for anyone with hearing issues as you can read the conversation as it happens.

Since the start of the pandemic a lot of research has been carried out which has shown that counselling sessions conducted by video link are as effective as face to face counselling.

I'm happy for anyone to have a 20 minute minute free call to discuss sessions and this can be by video link if you prefer so you can try it out prior to paying for a session.

Qualifications and registrations

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

I graduated with a BA Hons degree in Counselling, having first completed a Foundation Degree in Counselling. I then gained a level 5 qualification in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and qualified as an anger management consultant. I have also gained the BACP's accredited qualification in Counselling for Depression (CfD).

I have undertaken many many trainings from some of the best trainers around Trauma including dissociation.

In my past life I qualified and practiced as a nurse (RGN) and have taught counselling courses to degree level.

I continue to enhance myself and my practice, both professionally and personally, through accredted courses run by various mental health organisations across a broad spectrum of modalities.
