Counselling Maylandsea - Chelmsford

Welcome, and thanks so much for visiting my profile. I know how daunting it can be to find a counsellor and I appreciate you being here!

I'm Ashleigh. I'm a qualified counsellor specialising in high-functioning anxiety. I mostly work with those who regard themselves as perfectionists, overthinkers, or people pleasers, and those who struggle to implement healthy boundaries. I understand how it feels to be at a constant war with yourself, battling your inner critic and never feeling good enough. I support my clients to build upon their confidence, recognise their self-worth and finally find that inner peace they have long been chasing.

If you are finding yourself feeling lost, overwhelmed, or in a constant state of fear and panic then you have come to the right place. Anxiety can be debilitating, intense and unfortunately so often misunderstood. You can feel so alone in your suffering because on the outside you seem to have it all together. Everyone comments on how well you look or how well you did, when truthfully for you it just does not feel good enough, and you worry it never will.

Or maybe you are exhausted from having to put everyone else first and feel like you just can't catch a break? It feels too selfish to say no, or too risky to be honest with those around you in case you upset them or hurt their feelings. You are terrified of being alone, so you avoid conflict in relationships, and you bottle it all up instead. Telling yourself you will be okay and hoping that one day this empty feeling will subside.

If you can relate to any of the above then please know that you are not alone and that there is support out there for you. I genuinely believe that everyone deserves a safe space where they can feel validated and empowered. Where they can allow themselves to be vulnerable, experience what it is like to be fully accepted without judgement and begin to live their lives authentically.

Everyone has a story to share, and everyone deserves to feel truly heard and understood. You deserve to live a fulfilling life where you can be confident in who you are, increase your self-worth, and stop hiding beneath other's standards and expectations.

Change is possible. You are important and you matter. No problem you are facing is too big or too small, and I know that I would feel privileged for the opportunity to support you through it.

Specialisations

My core practitioner training is person-centred, which means that as a therapist I work with you in a way that helps you to find a path of freedom and self-discovery. I believe that you know yourself best and so I work from within your perspective, where you are able to find your own answers and choose resolutions that fit and feel right for you.

I believe that this can help you to expand upon your self-belief and develop more trust within your capabilities and decision-making; ultimately relieving your anxiety, improving your self-confidence and boosting yout self-esteem. I have a wide range of experience of working with difficulties that include anxiety, stress, burnout, self-doubt, low self-worth, low mood, chronic worry, imposter syndrome, loneliness and relationship issues.

I offer both short and long term counselling. If working long term, I regularly review with my clients every 6-8 sessions. I generally work on a one-session per week basis, and continue for as long as we feel it is beneficial to you.

Most common issues I support people with:

I mostly support people who struggle with high-functioning anxiety and those who regard themselves as perfectionists, overthinkers and/or people pleasers. Setting healthy boundaries, improving self-confidence and self-worth, calming the inner-critic, avoiding burnout, and letting go of the fear of not being good enough are common issues my clients bring.

Fees

Each session lasts for 50 minutes.

Initial counselling session: £30
Daytime sessions: £50
Evening and Saturday sessions: £60

Please be aware that I only work during term dates if a weekday day time session has been agreed.

I feel it is important for you to decide whether you believe we would be a right fit and for me to answer any questions you may have before you choose to work with me. I offer a free 15-minute phone call to allow for this, with no obligation or pressure for you to commit to therapy.

Please note - I currently do not work with clients under the age of 18.
