Online therapy and counselling

Hi I'm Julie, I am a warm, calm and accepting counsellor, working with adults in a way that respects you as a person.

I listen with my heart as well as my ears. My clients tell me I feel safe to talk to me about anything.

Online counselling

Online counselling, also known as e-therapy, uses modern communication technologies to provide counselling to a wider range of people than may be possible face to face. I offer online counselling through webcam, internet voice only and telephone.

Telephone and internet voice only

In this form of counselling we can only hear each other. The absence of being able to see body language and relying on tone of voice means that we need to be focussed on clear communication. I may ask you to clarify what you mean more often than I would if we were meeting in person or via webcam.

This is most like face to face counselling, where we can see and hear each other. Many people are familiar with talking to friends and family using skype. For counselling I use Vsee which is much more secure than skype, but works in a similar way.

Why counselling?

Counselling can help explore your feelings and experiences, help you find your way to understanding yourself, and can help you find solutions.

Counselling can also help you want to learn more about yourself. You don’t have to feel crap to come to counselling!

I work a lot with people who are feeling anxious, have experienced loss and grief, and people facing midlife change and menopause.

I have three years experience with a local sexual abuse support charity counselling people who have survived sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse.

I have counselled at a hospice working with people who have been bereaved or were living with a life limiting illness, and at a counselling charity which sees a broad range of people.

I qualified as a counsellor with a MA Clinical Counselling from the University of Chester and work in accordance to the ethical standards of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

If you feel you need to make a change in direction, I am there to support you.
