Lorraine Golding | Person Centred Counsellor
Leave a message and I will contact you as soon as possible.
I've had the pleasure of working as an Audiologist for the past 25 years and more recently a School counsellor and Bereavement volunteer for Cruse.
Why choose me? How can counselling help? If you are looking for maturity, gentleness and someone who puts you at ease, I might be the right fit for you. I believe that finding the right counsellor takes time and trust that the right clients will find me.
What experience do I have? I have many years experience working with people from all ages and groups plus lots of transferable skills when it comes to working as a counsellor. Lots of work around Grief and Loss, Anxiety and depression, Self-image, transitions in life etc. Through my role as an Audiologist I embrace diversity and able to work with hearing impairment and understand deaf culture.
How can counselling help? Basically its about you and what you need at that moment. I will not tell you what to do or give you answers, my work is all about you finding your way, making changes that seem right to you.
In a nutshell its all about Empathy & Communication. It's that difficult stuff that lies under the surface which sometimes is unsaid and extremely hard to talk about. We can feel conflicted, causing all manner of feelings such as guilt, shame, remorse or blame.
If you are conflicted with your feelings and emotions and feel there are no words to describe this, I can offer a safe compassionate space for you to explore this, to talk about those feelings and help move away from feeling feeling stuck, lost or alone. This is a confidential space
Who do I want to work with? I can work with Children if Gillick competent but ideally looking to see Young People 18+, Adults and Elders.
What to expect in your first session? I work with open sessions and planned reviews to meet your individual needs. This depends on your original enquiry (Presenting issue) and what you want to achieve from counselling. We can talk about expectations, exactly what you want to achieve from therapy and how long this might take.
I offer support. Extend a helping hand in such challenging times. My online therapy is via Zoom, Doxy.Me, or telephone sessions. I can also do 'Walk & Talk therapy' in and around Truro if this is your preference?
Sessions last 50 minutes (known as the counselling hour)
Statement concerning the coronavirus pandemic
We are still in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic. Some counsellors have returned to face-to-face working but for me I feel the safest alternative is online work for the foreseeable future.
